Bill H
My 929 has about 1000 rounds through it. In that time every screw on it has come loose at least once. The crane screw almost fell out. I was just dry firing it and the cylinder release was wobbling around. I tightened that one and the rear sight screw that was also loose. I have shot a lot of S&Ws and have never seen this before. Anyone else have this problem?
bountyhunter
No, but I use blue loctite on the side plate screws and cylinder retaining screw (also the cyl release screw). Also use it on the strain screw. Basically, I would rather they not have the chance to walk out.

Anyone else have this problem? yes, including the strain screw backing out. My working theory, as is the case with everything on these guns, is tolerances on the tools is being let go to far. I use a tiny drop of blue loctite, though I hate to, and it has resolved them backing out. I think permatex might be slightly better, something a little rubbery but haven't bothered. alecmc
a dab of purple loc-tite has served me well, with no issues of having to take the screw out when needed.
caspian guy
I had the same thing happen to mine... first the strain screw backed out. Then the rear sight screw started backing out. When I get some time I am going to clean and blue loctite every screw on the dang thing.
Tom Freeman
Had that happen on every revolver that I have shot a bunch. Even Freedom Arms silhouette revolvers. Edited June 9, 2015 by Tom Freeman
RevoWood123
I use my wife's clear nail polish on all my screws, keeps them from backing out, and I can use nail polish remover to clean them up and reapply if something needs to come apart.

reuel_f_emery
My 625 screws keep backing out, especially when hot... blue loc tite isn't cutting the mustard... I take it the nail polish needs to be on the threads...do they need alcohol swabbed first. thanks
AzShooter
Blue Loctite worked fine on mine. Even the bolt holding the comp on came loose. Now everything is holding together fine.

Forrest Halley
Bluuuuuuue loctite....blue! Blue! I use a little dab on the strain screw and crane screw. Half a dab on the side plates and the cylinder latch. Oh and you need to let it dry....I never cycle the action until the screws have had time to dry. From Harleys to revos...it just works.
