Sestock
I am looking for a quality gunsmith to work on a Browning High Power. Criteria: 1. Quality Work 2. Reasonable Prices 3. Moderate turnaround time(most places that I have talked to are in the 90-120 day range). I am located in the Pittsburgh area, but location of the gunsmith doesn't really matter. eerw
time frame will be the tough one.. good smiths are George Smith, EGW Ted Yost Don Williams Novaks probably others..but that is the top of my list for the BHP
tightloop
Cylinder & Slide does good work too...
Patrick Sweeney
They all do good work, and good work costs time and money. I'm afraid if you wanted a gun to start this season with, you should have started back in September. But ask the names mentioned. Someone might have an opening in the schedule. davidwiz
EGW built my HP. Prices for most of the work they do on them are on their web site. As for turn-around, its probably 2-3 months at least, no matter whom you use. Best to put your name/deposit in now. -David
Crusher
Add Jim Garthwaite to the list. The price of work (from all the good smiths) depends on how much you want done, easily this can be 2-4x the price of the handgun itself.
BLKturb091
If I were going to send it to someone it would be EGW....but don't expect to see your pistol for awhile!!!!A long long long while!!!
DougCarden
Mark Hartshorne at Pinnacle could do it as well. He is near Allentown. www.pinnacle-guns.com
srf
What Crusher said. Garthwaite did a friends HP, AWESOME. He is a real craftsman. I believe he is a PA resident. I'm not following you around Crusher

Alex added a beavertail and redid front and rear sights. The frame was refinished in Cobra Chrome by TrippResearch.
MBaneACP
I've got BHPs from Novak and C&S...both are flawless. Michael B
Mistral404
Ralph at Cylinder & Slide. If I am not mistaken, he is also a member of the pistolsmith's guild. Actually, the fitting of the barrel is a tad bit tricky. BHPs are noted for the flyer. Bill L. at C&S was not completely happy with the way mine was shooting so when he went and visited Irv at BarSto he took my gun. They refitted the barrel. NOW - No Fliers Ever! That is indicative of the work at C&S. I have Novaks white dot sights and the dots have really faded. I probably should have gone with the night sights instead. But live and learn. Byron Simpson
Jim Garthwaite did mine and I am 100% satisfied. It was a few years ago, but the turnaround time then was about 2 months.
bountyhunter
Cylinder & Slide does good work too... But their lead times are measured in integer multiples of the passing of haley's comet.
Mistral404
Bountyhunter you are way too optimistic, you might give someone the impression that it will completed in their grandchildren's lifetime. I sent mine in when I had hair.
longrange2
One of my favorite 1911 and BHP gunsmiths is Jim Garthwaite. He is located in NE PA and does excellent work. I am looking for a quality gunsmith to work on a Browning High Power. Criteria: 1. Quality Work 2. Reasonable Prices 3. Moderate turnaround time(most places that I have talked to are in the 90-120 day range). Zak Smith
I've had two done by Ted Yost. Work is excellent. Be prepared to wait.
BillH
Doug Jones did some fine work on my BHP; but, as above, you may experience a longer wait than you wished. He is located north of Detroit. Doug Jones
gpo1956
I've had HPs by Yost, Don Williams, Novaks and Jim Garthwaite. All were excellent guns. If forced to choose a favorite I would have to say Garthwaite.
