Who here uses 3N37 for 38 Super open gun?

I've been using 3n37 in my STI Granmaster at 8.4gr with 124 JHPs. I recently bought a FGW and with 2 popple holes and a 6port comp. Dialed in the load at 8.55gr for 124s and 9.0gr for 115s

It's a great powder I've been using it for over 2 years. I didn't care for AutoComp for use in 38s, hit a little too hard in the hand. You could always give 3n38 a try also. 10.2gr is the sweet spot

I've tried it but like 3n38 more. 3n37 is a faster powder. Not as fast as autocomp but close.

In terms of burn rate the good vv open powders go something like this

3n37

N350

3n38

N105 (very close to 3n38 though most seem to prefer 3n38)

The issue with N105 is that it is only available in 1LB jugs, this drives the cost up. I rank them:

1. N105

2. 3N38

3. 3N37

4. N350

3N37 is third for me as my 2 Tribrid open pistols are right at the edge of showing presser signs with it at 168PF, that load in my old Smoking Hole open gun is a 185PF without the presser signs.

I had 4 LB's of N350 chemically decompose on me so I just try to avoid it if i can, loads great just hate throwing powder away.

Out.

This is about they way I see it also..

I have used them all, but I like the 38 the best. 10.0 w/124 Rainier bullets and 4 popple holes 1370fps. using Fed rifle primers.

I can't find any 3N38.

I just got 8lbs of Auto comp from one of my sponsors. So that's what Ill stick with for now.

I went to 3N37 after switching from AA#7. I prefer it, but I load a heavier bullet 135 grain Zeros. When I run out I am going to have to find a new bullet since no one makes a 135 jacketed super bullet anymore.

don't feel bad. in my little colony it's ONLY available in the 1 pound containers and they cost $50 USD at the moment. normally of other powder we can get 4lb (actually 4.4lb as they are 2kg) containers for $112 USD. which is still $25 USD a pound. that's the best case scenario for stuff like clays etc.
