CZ75 SP01 Ext Mag Bases / Magwell Info Wanted

I have a CZ75 SP01 Custom I use for USPSA Production. For right now I have no back-up gun, so I'm wanting to use this gun for 3-gun as well.

So I'm looking for a magwell that is an easy install / removal (since it will come on and off often) and three extended base pads that will hopefully get me to around 24 rounds without looking ridiculous. I am currently using the Factory CZ 18rd magazines.

Suggestions? I've seen the CZ Custom basepads, but I think they only get me two more rounds, and are quite pricy.

Thanks.

The magwell I have was from CZC. It slides on and off. I run the CZ 18 rounders with the small base pads and that gets you 21 rounds. They are pretty proud of their base pads asking around $38 each.

If you're not concerned about fitting in the 141.25mm mag gauge you can use the long pads, 18rnd tubes, CZC springs/followers and get 25.

As far as easy on, easy off, you might sand the bottom of your frame to loosen the fit because all my CZC mag wells have fit very tight.

Thanks for the replies! I was a little confused about how the CZ Custom basepads work, but after re-reading their descriptions, I realized that the lengths and capacities they quote are for two different magazines, which is why they seem to conflict.

When you say Long Base pads and "18rd tubes", do you mean the SP01 factory magazines (not the Mec-Gar) that come with the small extended basepad?

So, for those of you who have been there, done that, it looks like I need ALL of the following to make this work....

With the factory 18 round SP01 mags, use the CZC short base pad, and the CZC follower/spring kneeling atlas mentioned to get to 22 rounds reloadable/reliable (at least for me), this will also be under the 140mm limit, if you need for your 3gun division.

I'd just forgo the magwell -- how often are you changing mags in 3 gun anyway ;-) I tried the CZ-UB magwell, it was nice for 140mm mags, but then didn't make it easy to use your other normal mags if you have some. I just leave my Accu-Shadow lower the same (no magwell) for production, open minor (different slide), or 3gun

I run this setup you are describing for 3 gun though I have 2 shadows 1 setup SAO with the magwell and one in traditional config for production.

If you buy the plug for the magwell (gets pricy for both but works well) and as described do a little adjusting or sanding it can be made to come on/off in about 60 sec. making the conversion possible right at your car as long as you have the other plug and cross pin with you. Remember you need short grips so when you take it off you will have stubby grips left on your gun. Not sure if you care about that but changing the grips will take longer than changing the magwell.

For mags again the short pads with the 18rd mags get you 21-22 with the combination of your tube with the czc pad and spring follower combo.

I did really want to mention that the long pad does indeed get you more but do you really want to be they guy running out of class gear? Seems like every local match I go to there are always a couple guys on my squad running whatever they want and claiming tac instead of open. Ported shotgun, 170mm mags, etc. They never win but it kind of takes some of the fun out of it.

INERTIA-

The matches we have locally do not use normal 3-gun rules, and have no mag length limit. That said, I COMPLETELY agree with you about running out-of-class-gear. My main focus is USPSA, and I see it there often. I have not fully researched "real" 3-gun gear rules, but if they would require a short base pad, then I might just get the short basepads because I do eventually plan on competing at sanctioned 3-gun matches.

You want the spring/follower kit: http://czcustom.com/czcspringandfollowerkit10.aspx

And the spring plug is $9 from CZUSA if I remember correctly.

I already have +10% springs from CZC in all my mags. I assume these springs are the same, and I could just get the follower? That follower looks like it would be really prone to tipping. Is it as reliable as the stock follower?

If you just want 'big' then and aren't under any length constraints, just get the cz75 9mm 26 round mag. You've got 26 rounds rock stock. That isn't a popular mag for USPSA because stock it is over 170mm length, but in your case won't matter. I use them for wildcat night matches here where everyone shoots open, no restrictions on mag length (and for open minor practice).

The rubber surround on the bottom comes off if you desire. My understanding this mag done for full auto CZ pistol :-)

(and even more rounds if you want to spend $$ on CZC 13 coil spring with follower, and extended base pad )

I have run +15 wolff springs with the factory follower and the basepads sucessfully but only get 21. I did order the replacement springs and followers together so never tried any hybrid combinations.

basicly most 3 gun rules will specify "limited" class regs for your pistol in the tactical class. open pistol rules in open obviously. except most all matches dont use major minor so your basicly running limited minor with 140mm mags. or open minor with 170mm mags. a 18 round cz mag with long basepad leaves you in no mans land between the two.
