zombywoof
I know there are better powders out there. The local powder store had some WSF, so I picked up 4 pounds. Is this even useful with the 38 Super? I have an STI Grandmaster, I shoot 124 Bayou RN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
open17
Worth a try. I ran it under a 124 Montana Gold in a Glock 17 open gun and made Major nicely. Oal was 1.140. Be aware that WSF (and WST) are reverse temperature sensitive. My 170 PF load at 50° in Oregon became a 165.1 PF load at 80° in Arizona! IIRC, it ran flat, soft and clean, with good accuracy. I moved away from it due to the temperature issue.
superdude
WSF should make Major with ease in the 38 Super. The Sierra loading manual shows 8.1 grains of WSF with their 125/130 grain bullets producing 1350 fps = Major. And that's within SAAMI pressure limits.
