Noobie question - What is the Shim Plate Drop (part number D01) for and how do you determine which one you need? Its pictured on page 27 in the manual but the manual doesn't say what they are used for???

Not exactly sure what kind of nomenclature Stoeger uses, but understand it's 50, 55, 60 and 65, with L on one side and R on the other.

Number indicates drop at heel and letter indicates cast on or cast off when installed, facing out from the receiver.

Other variables notwithstanding, using a larger drop at heel will lower your POI and flipping it to either show L or R will shift your POI as indicated. Any add on cheek pads or combs inserts will change POI accordingly.

When more adjustment is needed I use Quicksteel putty. Put paste wax on the back of the receiver so it doesn't stick. Loosely assemble the stock, then mix the putty. Apply a lump between the plastic spacer and the receiver, then snug the stock nut until the proper fit is achieved, then let it sit until the epoxy is hard. You can then tighten the stock nut normally.
