G T
So I picked up 8lbs of WSH. According to Winchesters burn chart it is just below WST, which is what i load 9 and 45 with. This will be my first adventure into loading .40. Anyone using either powder willing to offer up a recipe? Looking for a good start point . PKT1106
Depending on your bullet, I have seen 4.6-4.8gr WST for 180gr lead or coated bullets and 4.9-5.1 or 5.2 for plated and FMJ bullets.I run 180gr Xtreme plated bullets and use 5.0gr WST for about a 169-170 PF in my STI Edge. This is at 1.180".Please, due your diligence and work the load for your gun. Edited March 19, 2015 by PKT1106

Smokecloud
Since I could not score any TG for the last 2 years, I started shooting WST and WSF in my .40 guns. I like the WSF for major PF loads, but if I want something for speed steel or 3gun and just want light to med, then I prefer the WST. At this point, I don't think I will go back to titegroup after running it for 8 years or so.

I was thinking of trying the Xtreme plated bullets in my edge as well ...you like these better then coated lead like bayou or ibji? To tell the truth, I never used them because of the lead issue and the kids being so young. I would like to try some later on, but I am going to stick with the plated bullets as long as I can. I like the Xtreme 180s very well. I got out and ran some through the chrono today to confirm my WST loads: Assorted Brass 1.180" OAL Tula Small Pistol Primers WST 5.0gr Xtreme 180gr RNFP Ambient Temp 50F in the sun with an STI Edge Velocities: 964 936 956 991 964 990 959 980 972 978 986 976 968 976 980 943 979 958 963 1023

glockmeister
WSTs are great for moly coated bullets to lessen the smoke. I believe they are reverse temp sensitive so just make sure you have enough room from both temp extremes. I was using WST when I was loading molys but since I switched to xtreme plated I went back to TG. I had a few of WST that were chronoing way too extreme. It could have been due to a lot of factors and I was lazy investigating it and just gave up and went back to TG.
