Racinready300ex
I built a Glock for open and can't seem to cure my extraction problems. I'm using a load of 125 mg over 7625 making 165 pf and get rounds that don't extract. Empty brass stays in barrel extractor slips over rim. slide cycles and tries to chamber the next round. I tested some new loads today hoping a better powder would cure my problem. But at 175 of with HS6 I got another fte. I have a apex extractor in the gun. Thanks
shooter.860
I've seen open glocks with more tension put on extractor with set screw drilled into back plate My open glock runs great with stock extractor
DRichardson
This isn't a glock 22 with a conversion barrel is it?
Racinready300ex
No its a g17
Racinready300ex
That is a interesting idea with the screw in the back plate. I may try that. Any other ideas?
Kraj
Mine did that last season. I replaced the extractor and the spring/rod behind it and the problems went away
Racinready300ex
I just ordered a new spring and spring loaded bearing. I have extra extractors. I should have a extra rod too. So I'll replace everything with new parts and see if anything changes. Then I'll try the set screw to add tension.
captain037
Try a white sound defense extra power extractor rod/spring setup.
Racinready300ex
I've ordered a white sound spring, and the white 40 non LCI SLB from what I've read that is the longest. I'll probably polish my chamber one night this week too. Then if I have to I may try shimming the spring to add a little more tension. We'll see how it goes once the parts get here. dskinsler83
Also round over the tip of the 9mm follower. The white non loaded chamber indicator 40 spring bearing will improve tension with the extractor and changing to a non loaded indicator extractor can help too. Racinready300ex
The nice thing is glock parts are cheap. I ordered a non-LCI extractor to test too. I'll have to look at the follower when I get home from work. Off the top of my head I'm not sure what you mean by round over the tip of the follower. Kraj
I wouldnt think you problems are caused by the follower. Did your gun run right before or has it always been like this?
dskinsler83
I had to do it for the last round to eject and also what mount are you running?
Racinready300ex
I've been fighting this problem the hole time. I think I average one jam a match. Mount is Sjc 90 mount. But the empty never leaves the chamber so it shouldn't be the mount. I've made a few changes. I will do more testing this weekend.
shooter.860
Have you looked into your brass as a possible culprit ( slight bulging maybe ?) Does the problem occur on factory new boolits ?
Racinready300ex
Brass is all once fired, and I size with a Lee U-die. That said you bring up a good point. I haven't shot much factory ammo through the gun, and I think I recall it happening once with a factory load. But I'm not sure. I don't have much factory ammo on hand, but maybe this weekend when I got the range I will run the 100-150 rounds I have through it and see what happens. shooter.860
I too run the white plunger along with non LCI extractor. I believe the rest of the parts are stock G 17 What barrel are you using ? Mine is a KKM
Racinready300ex
I'm running the lone wolf barrel. I've wondered if it could be something with the barrel, but I don't know how I could really check that. I wish I lived closer to the range so I could go test this thing already. Racinready300ex
Well I got to the range today for a little bit. Blasted about 35 factory load. 20 rounds at 172 of and about 120 or so that are right at 165. All worked fine. I plan to shoot about 300 through it Saturday, we'll see how that goes. bigcalidave
I switched to the full white sound HRED setup and have never had a problem since then. Also put a lone wolf LCI extractor in there, because that was recommended with the HRED.
captain037
It took a non lci extractor to fix mine. They are hard to find tho.
Racinready300ex
I had a apex extractor already, I added the white sound plunger set up. And just for good measure I added a small shim to add extra tension to the spring. It may be overkill but it's working. I'd still like to get more rounds down range to be sure though. I've only got about 250 through it now. Will be shooting the 1st USPSA match of the season here this weekend. I'm hoping for the best.

Racinready300ex
From the Apex sight... "Machined from a billet of aerospace grade stainless steel, the apex F-FRE boasts a more robust extractor claw and improved geometry to produce the most durable extractor available today." My gun has been running pretty well, I did get a failure to extract at a match the week before last. This was the first time in 600-800 rounds. I'm not sure how long it had been sense I cleaned the chamber, probably 600-800 rounds. So I'm going to keep a log of rounds fired, and clean the chamber before every match and see how it goes. I'm going to start cleaning more like a open gun and less like a glock. lol. I will report back after I get some more rounds down range. On a plus I've finish HOA at the last 3 USPSA matches I've shot with this Open G17. And if the classifier calc is right all I need is one decent classifier this weekend to jump from B up to M in open on the next update.
