imashooter2
Psoriatic Arthritis has destroyed the grip strength in my left hand. I need to put a slide racker on my Kimber Stainless Target II. Problem is, everything I see goes into the rear sight dovetail, and I really want to keep my irons... Is there anything out there that will do what I need? Edited March 14, 2015 by imashooter2
PatJones
You could cut another dovetail in front of your existing sights.
imashooter2
Thank you Pat. I was hoping for a solution that wouldn't require a mill though....
WhiteDingo
You say you don't want to use a mill; what about a drill press? I've done drill/tap slide rackers on compact and subcompact pistols for weak-handed shooters that have worked just fine. The simplest one was on a Taurus TCP for an older female; she just wanted bumps or knobs to push against. Beveled delrin bushings and machine screws and she had what she wanted with minimal weight addition.
WidowsSon683
See if you can find one that replaces the firing pin stop. They make them for poly guns that replace the striker plate, MAYBE somebody makes one for a 1911.
imashooter2
Thanks guys. I'm not morally opposed to d&t the slide, I just haven't seen anything commercial that attaches that way. Another friend has suggested a cap screw with a sleeve that should do the job, if not especially handsome. Drop in like the glock pieces would be perfect, but I haven't seen anything like that either. I'll keep looking.
