idHawk
I just finished up this 6" build, which was a collaboration of sorts between myself and a couple different custom builders in our area. I built it for use in 3Gun, where it will take a lot of abuse. As such, I decided to give it a unique finish to match the abuse it will take. I am interested to hear what you guys think. I am certain to get opinions on all sides of the isle here, but I really like the way it turned out. Edited February 24, 2015 by idHawk
Durtarg
Nice looking build. Definitely a personal touch. If it's going to be used and abused why not start it out looking that way right. No need to fret over a scratch it might get lol. Good job for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gng4life
Wow, has that instant rustic feel to it. What finish is that and how is it done? Is it in 9mm? As long as she runs, it should be fun, good luck!
idHawk
It is a 9mm, designed to run super soft loads. The finish is a two layer cerakote. Silver with Black over top. Sanded in parts to expose the silver and the hit again with a little black here and there.
repins1911
Pretty slick looking like an old gunfighter's big iron. Did you take fine steel wool to the finish during the curing process?
Durtarg
Unique for sure. Great way to do the Cerakote finish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
idHawk
I can't take credit for the Cerakote. A buddy of mine did it. I just came up with the idea and had to talk him into it. He does amazing work.
idHawk
I like the fine details. I left the main body of both the front and rear sights in place during the cerakote process, so even they have the same look. Same thing with the mag well. dsa
If you stayed with with one gun long enough and did some dry fire it would look that way eventually. On a serious note that came out looking very nice. I really like the slide serrations.

By the way, not sure if you know, but Aaron Goodfellow did the slide and frame cuts.

DagoRed
That's an awesome look! I love that. I wonder if you did black cerakoate over a stainless gun if you could end up with the same effect. Thanks for sharing. Red

Service Desk
Does that qualify as a rat rod ? Kinda'reminds me of my favourite pair of Wranglers.
