crni4
So on the website, STI says they no longer take orders for Apeirios. Have they been discontinued? I saw one today in person, and its the first one i ever saw. Edges are common. I like that barrel on Apeirio, but is it worth it over Edge? I have been shooting glocks and the 2011 are looking very very tempting...
copecowboy22
I just picked one the the demo ones from Dawson last month. I really like it.
carsmovies
The issue with them is that STI can't get enough of the schuemann barrels for it.
Ken_Bird
I have one I shoot myself. IMHO its the best gun STI makes. With the schuemann barrel it is a very very strong performer.
MGMorden
Barrel availability - they can't get enough of the barrels to meet demand. You'd think though with STI making their own parts that they could just make their own Schuemann style barrel for the guns - unless that's still under patent or something. I actually saw one new in box go on Gunbroker a few weeks ago for $2250. Wanted it, but didn't have the cash in hand at the time the auction ended so I had to pass. Ken_Bird
That is a very good price. I would have bought it myself. They are only going to go up in value.
peterthefish
They're still hitting dealers in dribs and drabs, I'm guessing as STI fills the rest of their old orders. Reds Trading Post had a couple on Gunbroker last week in 9, 40, and 45. Not sure they'll go up in value as a prior STI post in another thread seemed to indicate they'd make more if they could get barrels, but the thought did make plunking down the bucks on one last week a bit easier. crni4
So this begs the question- Apeiro or DVC? Similar price except for better mags. Is the sight tracker "better" then slide cuts? I used quotations since its the indian, not the arrow in most cases, but lets play here

Couldn't find an Apeiro anywhere, but the DVC price was so close I put a deposit on a DVC. Then, an Apeiro hit gunbroker, and I thought - Apeiro gets here tomorrow, couple MBX mags show up Thursday. Should hold me over til The DVC comes in. Time to hit the press. Edited February 25, 2015 by peterthefish

Just because of this thread I now know what the Apiero was about. I always thought the apiero was bad ass looking, but I didn't know what a Schumann island barrel was, now I do, and I want one. Damn you internet
Ken_Bird
They are sweet, sweet, sweeeeeeet ! I do not miss the slide cuts and I can have my cool schuman barrel coated TiN PS, the trigger is unreal. This one is Stainless top and bottom Edited February 25, 2015 by Ken Bird
copecowboy22
The only thing I wish it had is cocking serrations on the front of the slide. I'm used to those on my 1911 and keep finding myself grabbing there. I'll probably have Jimmy cut me some one day.
Build4u
The Aperio has some weight out of the slide because of the hybrid cut.

I think he was referring to the DVC coming with "better mags". Not really better quality-wise, but the Apeiro (like the Edge) comes with 1 126mm mag and the DVC comes with 2 140mm mags. Ken_Bird
OK, I am using MBX magazines. I think they are considerably better than STI mags. But you're right 2 is 1, and 1 is none
kcub
I am new to 2011s and not a competitive shooter. How does the Apeiro compare to the SVI Infinity Sight Tracker? (aside from ± $2K diff) Just looking at them the Sight Tracker looks to have much more refined grips. I have one STI, a custom shop 10mm 6" with Schumann Island barrel. I'm sold on the island barrel's accuracy. I have handled the STI Legend which is pretty much an Apeiro sans Schumann Island barrel. Are there other 2011 makers that do island barrels with nicer grips than STI? I like the Apeiro but I hate to take sandpaper to a $2½K gun and I hate that I need to take sandpaper to a $2½K gun Edited March 8, 2015 by kcub
zzw26n
I have to ask, the Apeiro would be considered a Limited Pistol, wouldn't you want .40 or .45 caliber for major?
Quack
Sure, but if they use it in 3gun, 9mm is fine
