czmon
Having bought used 550b loader and numerous accessories, I have both the old style and new powder reservoirs and both types of linkage seem to work with correct actuator rods. Upgrading the older ones costs $40 +. Are they worth the upgrade for powder drop accuracy, or ?
Youngeyes
Some will argue that the clunk of the new ones help keep the loads more accurate. I have some old type and converted all my new to old. Very smooth and accurate. Save your money. YMMV. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=197431&hl=%2Bnew+%2Bfailsafe+%2Brod#entry2223860 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=140164&hl=%2Bnew+%2Bpowder+%2Bmeasure+%2Bmore+%2Baccurate#entry2035939
Build4u
I changed some older 550/1050 spare measures over to have more set ups for my newer 650. If you do not need to dual purpose the measures or have everything be the same, I would save the money both work fine.
Guest
I have old and new. The old spring return style works great (I use the failsafe rod just in case) and is very smooth. I wouldn't upgrade.

czmon
Thanks for the opinions. I might just stay with the old style. I need to get a few more springs first.
