jarvis243
So i have never purchased a a competition belt before. My waist runs about 34 1/2. In your experience should i get the 34 or go the next size up? Do these belts have to be right on? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
blairmckenzie1
I wear a 36 in pant. I have a 38 in DAA belt that leaves me about 6" of overlap. For you I would suggest a 38.
razorfish
I wear a 33 or 34 inch waist in Levi's Jeans. I have a 38" DAA Belt. I could easily wear a 40" DAA belt. I would suggest 38".
Sarge
I like them longer than recommended. I would buy at least a 36. You measured your waist correct? Some go by pants size and that is a mistake. But you can go to the shooters connection website where Chuck has a very clear set of instructions on getting the right size. Keep in mind DAA belts are hella stiff and slightly oversized. He talks about that as well. It can be tough to get your gear on them that is not DAA brand. It will go but it's just tough to do. Guys come on here all the time asking how to get their gear on them thinking they got a defective belt. DAA are also longer supposedly. CR Speed is a great belt as well and is a little shorter so I would go at least two sizes up with that one. Keep in mind if you register as a forum member Shooters Connection will give you discount pricing.

zzt
Measure your everyday belt and then decide. I have a 38" waist. My 1.5" wide leather belt I used to use for shooting is 47" long and overlaps by 6". The DAA size 38 belt is also 47" long. That is why Shooters Connection says order your pants size. However, Ben Stoeger and several other sites strongly suggest you order one size larger. I did and my size 40 belt is 49" long. I like a little extra overlap. However, you have to be careful not to go too long. If you do the overlap is too great and you can't get your gear in the right spot unless you put your belt on with the overlap in the rear or well behind the holster. A lot of people do that anyway so they don't have all that bulk up front when you have to bend over.

My Production belt overlaps in front because mags wrap around the back.

Jaycwebb
I am a size 42. I use a size 46, and I shoot Limited. I overlap in the back and the overlap area is pretty long. Great belt, very solid/stiff.
Flash74
For DAA it is simple. Measure your waist and use that size. No pants or belt sizes. They are wrong. Actual waist size works out perfectly even though you may be surprised at what you actually measure. I was 4" over my normal pant/belt size. zzt
I dunno Sarge. I don't like the bulk or the keeper up front. I got used to keeping my holster and pouches in IDPA legal positions, just for consistency. I don't have your space problem. I really only need two pouches plus a mag in the pocket, but I do run three just in case. Now that you mention it, I really should try it with the mag pouches more forward and see if I like it better.

zzt
I'm not shooting production Sarge. Limited. Three 20/21 round mags is really more than enough. I still carry the fourth, just in case. I bought three pouches because that is what I was originally told I had to have. I'm not so sure. Even on unsanctioned 40+ stages with Comstock scoring I've never used more than half of the third mag. For sanctioned matches, I really should leave the fourth in the range bag and save the weight. stickboy44
I use the DAA belt because it is stifferthan the CR Speed. And i just used a tape measure to find the size of my waist and went up 2 sizes..pretty much like everyone said above. But if you are using CR Speed mag pouchs it's hard to slide them onto the DAA belt, that belt seems be a little thicker.
coordinator
I use CR Speed pouches on a DAA belt. I agree with the majority above, 2 sizes larger. The DAA belt is a little stiffer than the CR Speed, which I think is a good thing.
