STI Perfect 10 Setup

Hey Guys,

Just put a P10 on order, and can't find much info on setup. Will be using it for fun, & maybe some hog hunting. Trying to get a head start as far as mags (will my STI .40 mags work?), recoil spring weight etc. Anyone have any input on tuning mags for this pistol?

.40 mags will work perfectly.

I would stick to what recoil spring weight STI ships it with, although, that will depend on what 10mm loads you plan on running in it.

Light loads that are about the PF as .40major loads usually perform best with spring weights between 12.5-14lbs.

Full power 10mm loads will obviously need a higher lbs. spring rate. (IIRC, around a 21lb spring is close)

Thanks, Craig. I need to order a 24lb. spring for my 10mm stock II, since It's still trowing brass into the next county with a 22lb., so I can order the 21lb at the same time when I call Wolff. Have trhe STI mag springs improved any in the past few years, or do they still get weak quickly? Just wondering if I should replace the spring in the mag that comes with the gun, or if that's not needed. Did you have any function issues with your P10, and if so, how did you address them? I still have a bad taste in my mouth from an STI apeiro that was a real pain to get running. Hoping that won't happen with the P10.

I don't have a P10. a friend does and he is not a gamer, just likes anything Uncle Ted promotes!

He doesn't shoot it very much, but when he does it is full power 10mm loads. He hasn't had any issues with stock STI mags, but again, he isn't a high volume shooter. The whole concept of tuned mags is lost on his type of shooting, in fact he only has the one mag that came with the gun. LOL (Weird fella for sure!)

Now, that said, when I shot it I used my Brazos supertuned mags that I run in my Limited gun, no issues.

Good luck, the P10 is an interesting beast. Not something that I would buy for shits and giggles, but neat nonetheless!

Thanks again. Good to hear I may not need to buy/tune more mags, as I already have STI 40s I tuned that can double as spares. I did see uncle Teds YT vid on the pistol. I'm hoping there's more in the gun than the quick group that was shot...not to call Ted's hunting prowess into question whatsoever ;)

I have one, as does a good friend, we have both had mag trouble, and feeding issues.

I do love it, its silly accurate, I use it for bullseye magnum matches where I'm up against 357 magnum revolvers.. and love beating them! Acuuracy is supperb, recoil is minimum. I've shot it up to 200 yards in competition! at that distance sadly you are really to a disadvantage, as bullet drop is way more than the 357's, but I managed to get repeatadly hits with it.

I use stock recoil spring/main spring, which seems to work pretty much for anything 10mm, but wont cycle anything under say 170PF... but thats you have 40's ;)

I load to around 200PF with 180gr bullet and N340. When you shoot stuff, like say steel you really get an idea how powerfull it is

Would I reccomend it? definetly, but sure to get some good mags, I orderd 6 mags at local dealer, 0 which worked :o Im getting some Sv mags now, hopefully that solves it.

hmm looking at my post, thats a whole lot of I's.

everybody loves videos? not bullseye stuff, but we had a magnum day testing ipsc stuff ;)
