Titegroup 1.06 OAL

I have a new CZ that requires a particular bullet profile to load @ 1.06. I have both 147 and 124 grain bullets.

With some other profiles I currently shoot 3.1 @ 1.15 in the 147 and 3.7 @ 1.15 in the 125

Anyone have a load worked up @ 1.06 I could start with for either 147 or 124? Or a suggestion of how much to back off on the charge when coming down from 1.15? I'm thinking .3 grains?

Agreed, and due caution noted with regards to pressure. Nonetheless, I already have these bullets, and I'd like to shoot them up.

I will just point out the obvious. .. that you will have much more room in the casino with the shorter 124gr

I load Berry's plated FP 124s at 1.065 using 4.0 grs of Titegroup. It consistently yields 130 PF out of my production pistols and has been my goto load for the last several years.

Thank you!

I would have imagined that to be a more stout PF @ 4.0.

Keep 'em coming? Anyone else out there?

These are some cast boolits from a company named Vance. They're a good bullet, I've shot thousands of them in my Glocks. The CZ has a narrow throat, and the profile on these just doesn't work with a longer OAL. Pretty common in CZ, and yes I could have the throat reamed, but I'd just like to shoot up this stock for now.

CZ's like some bullet profiles loaded pretty short. You should be fine at 1.06. I'll caution you not take any advice from anyone on a forum but if it were me, I'd feel pretty safe starting at 2.9 grains and working up a load. My guess is you'll end up somewhere between 3.0 and 3.1 grains.

One thing to note. Titegroup burns extremely hot so expect quite a bit of smoke when using Titegroup with any cast boolits.

Thanks. I'm with you on accepting advice via a forum! In the end, we are all responsible for our own actions.

I agree with your advice, as it matches my own figuring based off of the loads I currently shoot @ 1.150 which are right around 135pf. Truth is I'm pretty confident I can shoot the same charge at this shorter OAL safely, but I am going to go about this the right way and work up to it.

I have a few thousand of these, so I'm deeming it worth my time to work up a load.

Smoke? Yup, lots of it! Interestingly, the SNS coated have little smoke. Great boolit!

Clarifying you're talking about a 147 gr projectile with those numbers?

My assumption is that, yes, those are the 147 numbers.

I've yet to work up a load using 147 grain coated/lead bullets using Titegroup. (I've loaded 147's using other powders) So yes, those numbers are my "best guess" based on TiteGroup loads developed for 124 and 135 grain coated bullets.

Again, it's best to check the manufacturers loading data and err on the side of extreme caution. Be safe.

Interesting. I don't have much experience with coated bullets. But the Berry's plated 124s shooting out of a 4.4" Sig barrel, 3.9 grains of Titegroup at 1.065 was right at or a touch below the minor bubble. I chose to load 4.1 because it clearly and repeatably makes 130. With 4.0 it'd fluctuate between 126 and 129 or so and after a couple close calls I decided to just stick with 4.1. YMMV.

No chrono, but all of the following were completely fine. No signs of over pressure, I'll be settling with the top end of the listed charges, which is the same charge I use @ 1.150. Felt recoil between the long and short OAL was negligible IMO.

147 LFP @ 1.06

2.9 Titegroup

3.0 Titegroup

3.1 Titegroup

125 LRN @ 1.06

3.5 Titegroup

3.6 Titegroup

3.7 Titegroup
