shakman
I'm considering giving one of these holsters a try for 3-gun. However, I'd like to know if the hood will close over the gun when the hammer is down or if there is a modification the folks at G-Code need to make. I know some of y'all out there are using this holster, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it for use with an STI 2011.
Buddy2
No it will not work with hammer down. You can heat the strap and mold it to work hammer down or place your order and call g-code with your order number and have them make the strap longer to work with hammer down. DBTN
I purched a G-Code XST last summer and it works fine with the hammer down on my pistol. I like the holster more than I thought I would. The hood design works really well.
CJW
Well, good luck. I bought a G-Code last year and it did not fit my Edge. When I called to ask about it, I was eventually told they do not make a holster for that pistol.
gradyhue
To you guys that have ran them, how did you mount them? I've got one on order but I'm not interested in the RTI so I'm going to try the Invictus Practical Universal Hanger to a tek lok. AustinWolv
shak, before you order anything, let's take a look at a couple holsters that I have coming in to see if they'll fit for you.
shakman
AW, cool. I'll go ahead and grab the IP hanger either way since it'll work with my ALS and probably anything else I throw at it.
gradyhue
I haven't gotten either in yet to make sure they work well together. I'm worried about being able to make all three holes line up in a configuration I like.
RAZZ
I bought one about a year ago. I ordered it with a longer hood so it would work with hammer back or down. I really like it except for one small issue--it isn't actually molded for an edge it's molded for a long dust cover eagle. I had to cut the rivets and put thin spacers in the body to make it work with an edge. When I called them the cs guy pretty much said 'ya, we know.' shakman
Thanks Razz. Good info to know. I'm OK with doing slight modifications to the holster as long as it doesn't negatively affect retention. I had to do several small things to my ALS to get it to work with the 2011. AZGunut
Mine works perfect with the hammer down or cocked. I did have to slightly sand the inside of the holster as my oversized strong side thumb safety (EGW HD) was making contract and not letting the gun seat fully. It was no biggie just used sand paper and it works fine now. I did have to drill 2 new holes on my QLS male plate to get it to work with my normal setup. For the price it's the best thing going in retention holsters for 3 gun!
jon49erfan
Makes me wish they took custom orders. Finding a retention holster for a CZ TS is impossible.
gradyhue
Of those of yall that have/had a G-Code holster, what was the wait time after ordering?
mumzer
My wait time last summer was three months. They were moving factories and we're not communicative. My 2011 tactical fits perfectly and I love the hood....it didn't work with the hammer down but 20 seconds with my heat gun fixed that. I haven't found a retention holster I like as much.
