dapribek
Heard from buddies who have shot this match that it is well done and a lot of fun. Recommend it highly.
gliney00
I have to ask, does New York have some form of provision for Competitors like Massachusetts does? I would hate to get bound up legally for trying to go to an event.
dantrap
For Handguns yes, but for a Modern sporting rifle "AR" no. Dont bring it. As of 2014 New York has really hit gun owners hard with the SAFE act.
rr4406pak
You can bring in an AR-15 as long as it is compliant with NY law (which means the rifle doesn't have any "evil" features on it). The law is ridiculous.
nickted
What rifle could you possible use that would comply with the safe act and be at all functional for this kind of shooting?

rr4406pak
This match was run last year and we saw rifles that were made compliant (Thordsen stocks, hammer grips, etc.) and regular full featured rifles. Assumed the full featured rifles were registered.

Moltke
I imagine this is the NY legal 3-Gun rifle of choice?? http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/05/foghorn/gun-review-black-rain-ordnance-ny-legal-ar-15-bro-pg5-ny/
rr4406pak
Final results are posted here: RESULTS If you couldn't make this match you really missed out! Beautiful weather (a little muddy on some of the ranges) and challenging stages made for some really great 3 gunning. We doubled the amount of shooters from last year and hopefully we'll keep growing. See you in 2016!
esaber
yea. Ken has a pretty nice picture of the NY compliant AR. The ARES SCR might be another option. We had one competitor use an M1 Garand and perform quite nicely. Unfortunately, I do not believe that you can bring a non NY complaint rifle from another state into NY state. However, we will continue to run this match despite the SAFE Act and its limitations and contraints even if we have to settle for muzzle loaders.
