Trvlngnrs
Hi, I'm looking at the possible purchase of a Dan Wesson Pointman 9 (PM9). can get it for $900 shipped to my LGS. The only question I have, is if it is possible to bobtail a gun aftermarket? Can it be done? How much would you guesstimate it to cost? How's the reliability? Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the gun, I was just curious....... Thanks Trvlngnrs
shotgunone
Ed Brown makes a bobtailing jig that can be used to convert frames to bobtail. There is even a youtube video or two of doing it. Can't help with the cost from a gunsmith but the jig is about $50.00. Google it and you can find lots of information. wheelie
There is a mainspring housing by Guncrafters that's kind of "round butted". It is easy to file the frame to fit and you do not have to relocate the cross pin in the frame. Look at Brownells - http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/mainspring-parts/mainspring-housings/1911-round-mainspring-housing-prod55266.aspx
