Stick with either of the tried and true options that are out there.

Both have GOOD reputations in the industry.

OP asks opinion of product, if anyone saw it first hand.. You say they are junk, without any actual reason or evidence.. Real helpful.

I agree. Infinity grips are what, around $800? PT grips are OK but why can't there be other good products out there. Matt Cheely is the C in CK and they don't come any better than him.

I bought a CK Thunder series limited gun last spring and used it all 2014. I have been pleased with it.

I don't think he said anything about them being junk. That's your word. FWIW, I like the look of the checkering on the new CK grips. Anybody know how grippy it is compared to the others?

I was there and looked at them. I have large hands and the regular magwell felt good. The undercut fit me well, and the grips are rough enough for me. I ordered two....to start with. I have been happy with the work Matt Cheely has done for me. I will buy his products.

That was my take......

So why did he have to emphasize "GOOD reputations" in the reply if not to infer something???

Also, that post had zero to do with the OP's question.

I'm glad to see the competition. Perhaps the new entrant in this particular area of the market will encourage the other two major players to re-evaluate the pricing of their products. It should be a win-win for the end user.

From the pictures I have seen and the people I've talked to, these products are going to be terrific!

I saw them and handled them. They look like a really nice grip and the checkering pattern looks pretty cool as well. I have a PT regular texture grip on my gun now and the texture on it is not as aggressive as I would like. The CK grip texture I handled seemed to be in between the PT regular and aggressive and felt just right to me. Also, I believe Matt told me that the main spring housing and the mag well are proprietary and are included in the price of the grip. I would buy one if I didn't have one already.

I have one of the early PT grips on my Edge. I email both companies when they announce they were making them, CK & PT and the reason I went with PT is that I could actually get one to use. IIRC, CK is putting priority for their grips on complete guns. Someone correct me if I misread.

Brian at PT and Glenn at Lone Star were great.

I have not handled the CK grip and I didn't attend SHOT but I have a gun with a stainless PT grip. To me it feels like I am holding a 2X4 I also have a gun with an Infinity steel grip with grip tape and to me it feels way better than the PT. I also have a gun with an aluminum STI grip, the newer one, and even it feels less boxy than the PT. I guess I need a CK to round things out.

As per their Facebook page:

"Grip kit with mag release, magwell & MSH start at $500."

I was told the super, duper SS version was priced at $575 but I haven't confirmed it. In any case, these prices include the mag release, magwell and MSH. Quite a bargain.

Our grips potentially cost more due to the number of options available. Sizes, textures, cutouts, multiple trigger guard options, logo recesses, etc. Similarly configured, ours are available for about the same pricing. Our advantage is time in the market. We certainly have had time to work out the bugs. Some others, not so much. I am not saying they aren't good, I can just say from 7 years of experience they will have bumps in the road.

Hello: Matt builds good stuff so I am sure it will be a very nice addition to those that want a metal grip. I have an old STI aluminum grip, the small one and it is still going strong. I do agree that the PT grip feels boxy and the SVI feels more like a standard plastic STI/SVI grip. It is nice to have choices. Thanks, Eric

Maybe, maybe not. Heck even STI struggled with aluminum grip problems. I think a lot of R&D has gone into the entire CK line.

Where did they get it? Were their initial grips in the hands of shooters using them for matches? I am not trying to pit people against each other, but I figured you would want to get some initial runs out the door and into people's hands to get some feedback.

It would be interesting to see what CK has to offer from a metal grip perspective. I have the PT smooth Stainless grip on two of my limited guns and like them a lot. I prefer to use skate tape to add extra friction where needed so that is why I chose to get the smooth grip over one of their textured models. A local shooter has a PT Stainless grip with the aggressive texture and that is WAY too aggressive for my liking. It actually hurts if I grip the gun with my normal shooting grip pressure. If that makes me a wimp I guess that's what I am.

So far the PT grips have performed great with no issues or failures. I am good at breaking stuff, so if it can break, I will probably break it. We will see how it goes once I get a significant amount of lead down the pipe with the PT grips.

One thing that I did find, on accident actually, was using the SV version of the grip T-Nuts were better. The STI version of the grip T-Nuts would cave in bending the "T" portion of the nut pretty easily after not much use or if you go crazy tightening them. I found some SV Grip T-Nuts in the vendor tent at one of the major matches I went to so I figured I would give them a try as they looked slightly different in how they were made. I am happy to report that the SV grip T-Nuts have held up great for many thousands of rounds without bending or loosening up like the STI ones. I don't know what makes the SV T-Nuts better than the STI ones, but they do work better in my guns.

Like pretty much everything else, the SV hardware is better quality than the STI stuff. Has to do with the material and manufacturing methods. They may look the same to the average person, but they most certainly are not.

Plus, I bet he learned from what others have done without having to do all the R&D himself. Its a perfect time to introduce it.
