adwade74
What base pad for STI mag in limited 3G or 4G2 ?
al503
The safest way to go is with the 3mm. The 4mm basepads will be very close to the 141.25mm length limit. Since all tubes vary slightly, you might be a little over the limit and you'll have to remove a little material from the rear of the feedlips. adwade74
Thanks, I don't have access to a mag gauge so I was unsure. May go with the 4 mm because we are always runnin on the ragged edge anyhow !
robb315
I have 8 140 STI mags for my limited gun and every one fits the gauge with room to spare with the 4mm Taran pads. No filing or anything was needed. In my experience, they fit the gauge a lot better than the Dawson Snl's.
GeorgeD
I've had the same results with Taran 4mm pads, all my mags fit the gauge no problem. 10 mags, 4s and 4g2s.
Sdlrodeo
How can you tell which size is on the mag? I measured the two different thicknesses and I got 5+ and 7+mm.
assaultthesalt
No issues with my 4G4's making length in either gen1 or gen2 STI mags.
Paulie
I have the TTI 3mm and like them but I tend to mangle the spring when sliding the base pad off to clean the mag. Probably user-error! I attempt to poke the spring to relieve pressure but the lip catches no matter what. I have scoured the inter web for a trick to pull them off. Can an anyone help? robb315
Rip them off like a band-aid. It’s the only way.

I got the gen 2 STI 170 tube and TTI 4G pad as recommended. However, the gen 2 STI tube I received must have been a little long since with the 4G pad it doesn’t fit the gauge even trying to push it down. Had to get the 3G pad and now it fits with a little bending of the tabs the pad fits on.
cconnection
On Taran Tactical web site if you scroll down they give their recommendations for size for all mags. good information. Jfitz427
What’s the difference between the 4g vs 4g2? Gen 2?
jcc7x7
the 4g2 sets at a different angle on the rear of the mag so it fits the gauge better
