Patrolmen
Getting my new Dillion 650 on Thursday. Setup for 40 cal. I have plenty of brass. Need to pickup some bullets. I have several cans of clays. What is a goo load to produce with clays for 3 gun and practicing?? What bullet grain etc. Thanks!!
RangerTrace
What gun are you shooting? Can the chamber accept long ammo? If so, for 40 major in a 1911, I loaded 4.7 grains of Clays under a 180 grain Montana Gold JHP to 1.22. So, you could start with 4.0 to the same dimensions. If you have to load for a Glock I have no idea, but I'd bet there are lots of folks on here that do........
earthshine402
Do a little google-fu on here to learn that Clays at major PF only at long OAL's.. unless you want a kaboom. Even with that you might get some case head separations.I load some really soft .40 minor with Clays - 2.7gr under 180gr Ibejiheads at 1.135" or 1.180" If only for 3 gun or practice and it is def all minor, then maybe 165gr would be fine also. Patrolmen
Thanks for the replies. I'll be loading for a Glock 22 and 27. I had read about the possible issues with clays I just wanted to be sure. Thanks
the duck of death
4.0 gr Clays/oal 1.145/180 gr MG or Zero--these 2 are the only 180 gr bullets I've used-- other 180s are no doubt fine. An excellent load for a Glock 40 SW. I shoot it daily in a G27. Edited January 16, 2015 by the duck of death
