dkwatch
Just curious what is the purpose of magnetic magazine pouch? besides magazine table start. They seem to be quite expensive. Are they legal in all division?
calvinc78
I use mine to slap my empty mag when I'm showing clear. Also use mine to look like a fool when I get to close to my truck.... Ya it's happened a couple times. Don't think their legal for production but don't qoute me
Sarge
No longer legal in USPSA Production. As you say, they are great for table starts but really other than that.....? I would say they are too expensive but they are cheaper than my Race Masters were.
dkwatch
Ha....Never thought about the truck part. Probably can buy a round magnet myself and make it a lot cheaper.
Sarge
Ha....Never thought about the truck part. Probably can buy a round magnet myself and make it a lot cheaper. Make sure to buy really good magnets. I think they are rare earth magnets or something like that? They need to grip the mag so hard that it will not fall off while running. Mags get pretty heavy. I have a DAA magnet that the only way to get my STI mags off is to pull them straight up. You can't just pull them off easily. That type of magnet might cost a little more. And yes, you need to cover it when not in use. A buddy turned me on to a thick rubber pipe cap from Lowe's. Everything will stick to the danged thing if you don't keep it covered well. Scratches the hell out of your truck too!
Jadeslade
On the other hand they are a great way to hang your belt up at lunch or on a file cabinet. I think they should be covered with clear epoxy or something that doesn't mar.
Sarge
And here is an interesting tidbit I didn't know. Hand warmers in a jacket pocket stick to the magnet like glue! Who knew??

One is stand alone, the other is attached in front of the regular mag pouch. Any preference? Or pros and cons?
Sarge
Since I already had enough pouches I just bought the magnet and drilled a mag pouch to mount it. I mounted it on the front edge of my first pouch so it would closely resemble pulling it from the pouch on a reload.
Biloxi23
I use my DAA magnet as a holder for a paint spray can at steel matches. Of course during normal USPSA matches I have gotten stuck on the Texas Star.
terrydoc
The only issue is if you put them on mag pouches is complying with the 2in rule

Sarge, I am thinking to set one up using your method for my Limited rig. Just want to make sure it is legal for Limited. Looks like it is not legal for Production and Single Stack. Sarge
That's correct. No restrictions in Open, Limited, L10. Production and SS appendixes both prohibit magnetic pouches.

Sarge
Would have to be mounted on the outside of the pouch to be too far away
OPENB
I put my DAA magnet on a Techlok, then put it next to my first pouch near my belly button. Rarely use it, but if I need it, it is super handy.
terrydoc
Depends on the persons build, and the fact we shoot IPSC they get away with it only after the buzzer goes as they are then allowed to put mags on it.
