3djedi
I heard on a podcast the other day about using hearing aid insurance to purchase a set of the sport ears custom molded electronic hearing protection. I happen to have hearing aid insurance and was wondering if anyone knew how I would go about using it.... Since sport ears are not exactly hearing aids but more of hearing protection I'm not sure how you could justify it to the insurance company..... However, I do work in a loud environment and I'm sure I have some hearing loss (and some ringing in the ears, tinnitus) so is it as simple as going to an audiologist and expressing that I have some loss already and have an interest in protecting my hearing? any ideas? Graham Smith
Just find a hearing specialist and talk to them. They can pre-qualify you with your insurance. Even if they tell you it won't work, you can still get them to make you a set of custom molds that you can send off to one of several companies to get good non-electronic ear plugs made. Have you checked to see if your employer has a relationship with a hearing specialist? Some places have hearing protection programs you can take advantage of.
