bishop414
Need some help from you guys/gals. Changed my sights on G34, Warren comp. Shot today and groups are 5" to 7" high, good on windage, at 25yds. Had a buddy shoot it, similar results. Question: since rear is fixed, do I need a new front? If so shorter or taller? Any reason to mess with load? Brain says shorter but not thinking clear tonight. Load 124 MG JHP, 1.13, WSF 4.6 at 129pf. Thanks in advance. MAC702
Taller front sight to bring groups down, if a change is necessary. Did you replace both sights at the same time from the same company's kit?
bishop414
Yes. Front and rear changed together, and should be same set.
Mike L.
What height is your current front sight? Did you order the .215 or .245? If you purchased the .215 you need the .245. Good luck.
bowenbuilt
I had the same problem but the .245 was too high for me so I ordered a front .230 sight from Dawson to fine tune the Warren rear. Dawson makes the same width front as the Warren in plain or FO if you find you need some other options.
mgardner
Go to dawsonprecision.com and click on "Sight Front" and it will take to you a page with diagrams and a formula to determine what sight you need. They can make you any front sight you want if you call them.

Basically brand new, took them off after sighting in. Also have .215, .235, 255 too. I sell em for 19 bucks each & 6 bucks shipping - 25.00 total. I'll PM you. You need to change the relationship between your front and rear sights by approximately .050 by raising the front or lowering the rear or a combination of each. bigtimelarry
He has Warren Sights, there is no lowering the rear. Just change the Front..
bishop414
Thanks for the help. Is .285 a common height for front sight? According to the math, and JBP55 that is what I need. Since I need to buy, what do you prefer, .115 or .105 width?

Mike L.
.235? You may want to check that as the Warrens are listed with .185, .215 and .245.

bishop414
Much thanks to all who pointed me to Dawson, the formula to pick front sights and general observations. Ordered 2 new front sights, .285 installed and dead nuts at 25yd. Also, the only .285 I could get was .100 wide which helped tighten up my groups. (Dawson had them to me in 4 days, out of stock items, thank you for quick service). Area 2 starts tomorrow so we'll see how I do. Nothing like changing your setup right before a major match. BOOM
bishop414; Would you mind taking a few pic's of what your gun looks like with this .285 front and warren rear. I'm trying to decide
bigtimelarry
I think the only way you would need a .285 on the front with a Warren Fixed rear is maybe when you installed it you did something when filing it or crammed it on and there is a gap between the Warren sight and the slide.. I'd like to see a photo too..
bishop414
Yes, but can't until the weekend. Rear sight was installed by a reputable smith. I agree with everyone, it seems really tall. However, it is hitting POA at 25yds with my load. Can't complain and lucky for me DOH holster has a very high sight channel.
