harald
I have problems finding reloading tabells. Can i reload one of these calibers in a 6" bull barrel without a comp and get 190 in power factor, or will the pressur go way over MAX. Can this be done with a bullet heavier than 140grain and vv power. Just a thought. This is the factor for a national match in Norway, whitch almost everyone use a 357mag revolver. Are there other caliber who can make this in 9/38 1911?
Flexmoney
9x23 is reported to be some of the strongest brass around. If I were going to "push the power", I'd give it top consideration.
shred
VV has some heavy-bullet loads in .38 Super that come close. Max load of N105 and a 147 XTP listed right at 190 PF, and they have a N105/124 FMJ-FP combo that lists at 197.6 PF (I'm a little suspect of this load..). VV doesn't list any 9x23 loads with N105 , and their max 9x21 loads are way down in the 165 PF range.
eerw
In 9x23 with a 6" barrel..that should be possible.. out of a 5" gun I chronographed WIN factory ammo 124JSP a little over 1500fps..(186PF) so given an extra inch of barrel..should be able to do it..might post over on pistolsmith.com or 1911forum. someone might have worked that already. Somewhere I was givin a load with 147gr bullet that went 1330...haven't tried it..so cannot vouch for its safety..
Patrick Sweeney
If you have a 1911-type gun to run it in, then you want to use the 9x23. The 9x21 exists only for 9mm-sized pistols, and you have no chance of making 190PF in a 9x21 unless you find loading data for nuclear fuel. benny hill
In 9x23 try a 125 gr. bullet & about 11 gr. of Accurate # 7. Has lower pressure than the V V powders. Work up to about 12 grs. in a ramped barrel.
