BOOM
I'd like to place a shot timer APP on a I phone 5-C. Not sure which one works best, if any ? Thought its worth a try. I'd like to use it more for dry fire practice at home, Is there one ?
GreenOps
I use the Sure-Fire Shot Timer on an old iPhone, but it isn't available anymore. On my newer phone I have the "Free Shot Timer" by Innovative Applications, but I haven't used it enough to properly evaluate the app. I'm too cheap to pay for the others. newmexicocrawler
I have used a couple different apps....none are great but they all worked
Ultimo-Hombre
The sure fire one is ok for dry fire with par times. It's worthless for live fire and it won't pick up any kind of shots with consistency.
BOOM
Thank you for your response ; Dry fire practices was the main goal for using the phone APP. Tried one of the free ones available last night, but it would not pick up dry fire thinking it might only pick up live. A good shot timer phone APP that will pick up dry fire sound would be worth paying for, if ones out there.
copecowboy22
I tried all the free ones and couldn't get them to work. I broke down and got a regular timer.
BOOM
Thanks, Just curious copecowboy22; which shot timer did you end up with, and does it work for dry fire practices drills
Ultimo-Hombre
If you are looking for a timer to pick up a dry fire click I think the CED airsoft model is about the only option. But it won't work for live fire. My question is why bother needing a timer to hear your click? I mean dry fire drills are typically done to par times. Unless you are shooting a double action gun all you'd be recording is the time to first shot. A pretty small data set all things considered. I think a good plan of action would be to buy a good timer such as the CED7000 use it for par time dry fire training. It even has a reduced volume mode for that. There's several people on here that have it, maybe they'll chime in.

Ultimo-Hombre
I agree Hombre; Is there a good simple phone APP out there that can be used for par time I use the sure fire app on my iPhone for backyard par time based dry fire. It seems to come and go in the App Store.
KSwift
Not meaning to hijack the thread, but same story with Android based applications? Considering paying 10 bucks for one, but will pass if anyone has already tried it with lousy results.
BOOM
Same here K Swift; If any of the shooters here can say there HAPPY with the phone APP there running; I'll pay up right now
dogtired
I have "Free Shot Timer" by Innovative Applications and have only used it for par times. I will have to try it with actual gunfire.
andrewtac
IPSC shot timer (beta) app on droid works for me. I was even able to get it to pick up trigger pull on dry fire on the glock (or I guess the striker dropping). Misses a shot occasionally. Good for a free app.
CyclicRate
I have the Free Shot Timer app by Innovative Applications. I used it before I got a CED 7000 and it worked alright. It was a bit annoying to have to fiddle with the sensitivity all the time (not sure if this was just because of my Iphone case). I only use it now if I forget the CED at home. The CED 7000 is smaller than my Iphone and works loads better. I'd say the app is a good backup, but I think spending the money on a stand-alone unit is well worth it.
