Question on coated bullets

Ok guys I am new to reloading and have a couple questions on coated bullets. First is what is the advantage of using them? And second is are they worth the little extra money?

They don't smoke like a wax lube bullet.

They don't lead the barrel like a wax lube bullet.

They don't cost as much as a plated or FMJ bullet.

While they are absolutely an improvement, coated bullets aren't foolproof on smoking and leading.

Paired with the wrong powder they'll still smoke plenty more than you'd like. And you can get lead fouling from a coated bullet in mostly the same ways you get it from traditional cast lead bullets (improper fit to barrel, unintentional swaging during loading, etc.).

Another advantage though is the reduced lead exposure.

Much cleaner loading and shooting. Make sure ya get a good bell on the case.
