Tanfoglio magazines

Here are some magazines for small-frame Tanfoglio pistols, including P9 and Witness models. Link to public Yahoo photo album.

First, three variations of the 9mm (9x19 and 9x21) magazine:

9mm pic #1

9mm pic #2

9mm pic #3

Left: milled tube, chopped follower, Wolff spring, WCPI (?) extended aluminum base pad, 21 rounds

Middle: milled tube, chopped follower, Wolff spring, CPMI extended aluminum base pad, 19 rounds

Right: drilled tube, chopped follower, Wolff spring, unknown flat aluminum base pad, 18 rounds

The big stick pad is secured by roll pins on either side. The CPMI pad is secured by a screw on the back. The flat pad is secured by the stock spring retainer and has a disassembly hole like stock pads.

Now for the .40S&W magazines:

.40S&W pic #1

.40S&W pic #2

.40S&W pic #3

Left: milled tube, chopped orange follower, Wolff spring, factory extended aluminum base pad (relieved for mag well), 14 rounds

Middle: milled 9mm tube (lips spread for .40S&W), chopped orange follower, Wolff spring, copy of a factory extended aluminum base pad (relieved for mag well), 14 rounds

Right: milled 9mm tube (lips spread for .40S&W), chopped follower, copy of a factory extended aluminum base pad (relieved for mag well)

The blue pad was a factory-offered part and I bought it with a complete magazine. I also own several faithful copies (one of which is pictured in natural aluminum). I had to relieve the back of the pads so the magazines would seat in my magwell-equipped custom P9 frame. The pads are secured by two small allen-head screws on the back top.

First of all, you're never touching any of my stuff. Well, maybe my hard chromed stuff.

That pink pad is surely an EAA pad. Like my blue one, it's painted, not anodized.

I would do all I could to get at least 17 rounds in a tube to shoot Open division IPSC/USPSA. Even if you go out and buy a new factory magazine, all you have to do is chop the follower legs to get 17 rounds. Milling the indent requires a gunsmith (or a mill, duh) and that with a base pad will give you 18-20. Then you're doing a single reload in a big (32 round) field course, with room for make-up shots, just like the competition with their 29 round big sticks.

Hi guys, good pics by they way ;)

The mag with the straight tube- no indents, I used these with the hollow CPMi pad and a cut follower and got 19 rounds, DJ, you only get 17? Or is that not a hollow one? I have the regular and some hollow ones as well. They work nice with a magwell.

Yeah, I was surprised, too. I guess It's not a cut follower.

To tell you the truth, I didn't know how many it would hold until I decided to copy Erik's photos and information using my own mags.

I use a very similar setup. Flat sided tubes, CPMI hollow pads, factory follower (no trimming, no legs, has center nub) and a Wolff "caspian" mag spring trimmed down a few coils. 19-20 rounds of 9mm.

Plan on trying a new spring and follower, se if I can get any more in there.

Now that the AWB is over (depending on where you live) why don't you contact Eric Grauffel and buy a complete mag from him instead of welding one up?

He can get Tanfoglio stuff...he even offered to bring me over some "stuff" when he came to last years Nationals. ;)

Food for thought.
