smiledr69
OK I have had my 550 for 2 months and suddenly the primers for .223 are getting totally tweaked about half the time. It isn't the pocket as I have hand primed the ones that the 550 is tweaking. It feels ilike the primer bar is smooth but when I press down to load the primer will make a click or snap sound. Help! Sarge
Just to clarify, you know for certain the pockets are not crimped? Hand priming and priming on the machine will give different results on crimped pockets I suspect. Does the primer cup come up through the hole smoothly when there is no brass on the machine? If it does it would seem to be the brass that is causing the issue. If it is hanging up even on an empty press then you can try loosening the primer assy and realigning it or the whole platform may have worked loose and gotten out of alignment. Did you do or change anything with the press just before this started happening? sometimes a seemingly unimportant change can cause issues with Dillons. Nugget
Another sign to look for is brass shavings on or near the primer seating cup. If your getting any shavings then your swage is not set deep enough
smiledr69
It feels like I have to force the primer to get it to seat. Almost like it is catching on the edge before it goes up all the way. With nothing there it still will click or catch. The primers are bent when they seat.
smiledr69
Btw I have tried it on two different types of casings which one has been decrimped and the other was non crimped. That was my first thought..
kellymc
Hope someone figures it out, I just switched to CCI primers and started getting that click on most non crimped nickel cases
