Dillon Square Deal B Tool Head Stand

Recommended Posts

Hello;

I understand that no one sells a stand for the Dillon SDB quick change tool head so I was going to venture to try to build one myself with some assistance from friends who are way more handy then I am.

I was thinking of making one out of wood. I tried searching the threads but couldn't find samples of what others have done.

If you have done this and you don't mind, would you share how you did yours?

The plan is for a complete stand to hold the tool head, dies, shell plate, powder measure, and locator buttons.

Any ideas, photos, designs, etc... you can offer will be greatly appreciated!!!

:cheers:

Good Luck And Be Safe!!!

I made one. I used 2 2x6's 14"? long, screwed together.

Measure the width of the toolhead with dies and powder measure installed.

Take an empty toolhead and make a cardstock template. Find the center of the die holes and transfer to the wood. Do this for as many (mine was 3) toolheads. Make sure that you orient the template the was the toolhead sits on the press.

Use a 3/4" holesaw and punch the 3 holes. Repeat as necessary.

You can screw the stand to the bench for greater stability.

I didn't take pics.

I used to wonder why they didn't have a stand for the SDB.

I figured that maybe Dillion's research showed that most users dedicate those machines to one caliber since they used to be so inexpensive.

But now that they have creeped up in price, and we now have a huge influx of newbs, maybe it is worth the effort now?
