Rockclimbg
I'd like to set up a Glock 21 to shoot CDP for some extra practice at the local IDPA shoots. Outside of trigger work and a Heinie/Dawson Sight combo, I would like to add a brass magwell. After reading a few post in the IDPA rules forum, it seems as though it would be legal however, I would also need extended base plates as well. The only extended base plates I've found for the large frame glocks are brass and at Lonewolf Distributors (http://lonewolfdist.com/products.asp?prod=62&curRecIdx=61) Does anyone else make an extended +0 plate for a large frame glock? (already check the usual suspects (glockmeister and lonewolf).) Also, would I be better off just getting a brass seatle slug? At least that way I wouldn't have to get extended base plates.......or would I? On a side note: Does anyone know why Meprolight, glock and Trijicon all have different rear sight heights for the Large frame glocks but Heinie and Dawson do not? What kind of deal with the devil did Heinie make that let's them use the same rear sight height for all glock models? Thanks for any help. Rockclimbg. Mark Perez
Rockclbng, Top Glock has these jentra bumpers , supposedly fit all glock mags (?) and are IDPA legal. I've never ordered from them , fwiw. when adding a magwell - it still must allow the gun with mag inserted to fit inside the box. Brass MW's are kinda big and might need some trimming. JP makes an aluminum MW that is box compliant and is on sale , you might want to check it out HERE I've had the brass Seattle Slug and MW's - I prefer the MW. The slug just adds weight - the MW adds weight and increases the opening to nail the reload. Good Luck , Mark Edited December 31, 2004 by Mark Perez
Steve Moneypenny
I would go with Dawson or Heinie Sights I'm sure heinie makes them for the G20/21 Dawsons it shouldn't matter Steel Guide rod is a must with 45 in my opinion and some adjustable springs i would think a seattle slug would be enough for weight a mag well is kind of bulky on the big frame glocks. Those base pads would be fine providing the gun still fits in the box. If all else fails you could have a set of melted bo-mar's on the gun.. not cheap though. CSEMARTIN
I have a glock 21 set up for CDP. I haven't found anyone that makes a brass magwell for a G21. However, JP Enterprises makes a nice aluminum magwell that will fit into the box. If you go that route, you won't need an extened base plate. Tom Novak is working on a SS magwell that will be IDPA legal. I've e-mailed him a couple of times............. Hope that helps, Chris
Rockclimbg
Thanks for the help. I think the JP mag well will be my route. I'll be picking up the Heinie/Dawson combo although the non-raised rear sight thing does freak my out a bit. Anyone have an idea as to why all the other sight makers use a raised rear sight except Heinie? they don't even differentiate between the large frame and small frame glock model sights. Also, am I right in understanding that the JP mag well does NOT require any kind of mag bumper or extended mag? Thanks. Rockclimbg

Rockclimbg AFAIK , they don't. The only ones I've seen were mounted on 9mm frames - fwiw. btw , Matt at CGR had a custom G21 for sale .
