Production Legal?

I'm planning to use a Glock 35 for my poor mans hicap gun in Limited, but I also want to use it for Production. This is what I've done to the 35: replaced stock sights with Hienie rear and a Dawson fiber front, tungsten guide rod, Glockmeisters extended mag release, and Eric's True Grip. Is the gun legal for Production? I also need to know if the Safariland 773 mag holders are Production legal. Thanks.

From the January 2004 Edition Rule Book, US Appendix D9 US Production Division:

21.2 Front sights may be trimmed, fiber optics inserted, adjusted and/or have sight black applied. Sights must be of the  notch and post type.

21.5 External modifications other than sights are not allowed.

21.6 Aftermarket grips which match the profile of the OFM standard for the approved handgun and/or the application of grip tape or rubber sleeves is permitted. Modifications to grips, other than previously mentioned, not allowed, such as grooves cut to reach mag release or size reduction.

23 Competition holsters of the race gun type specifically not allowed...

That means that you are good to go with everything you mentioned except for the Glockmeister extended mag release. Just make sure that the maximum weight of the pistol does not exceed 2 ounces over the factory specified weight, which it shouldn't.

The Safariland 773 mag holders are Production legal as long as they are worn behind the hip bone; that goes for the holster as well.

Also, be careful if you are using magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds. You can only have 10 rounds loaded maximum in any magazine after the start signal. This does allow you to load 11 in the one you load at the start because you will rack it and load one, leaving only 10 in the magazine.

I hope that helps.

P.S. Depending on how strict your local clubs are you could probably shoot your setup in Production without having to remove the extended mag release. If you go to a major match you will want to replace it with the stock one that came with the pistol.

Cor,

I disagree on your last statement. People tend to do what they practice - if you practice with an extended mag release and change this before a big match you will f*** up at that big match because the mags don't release as they used to.

Use the same setup for both practice and matches - either small or large - it will pay off eventually.

Yoda,

I agree that practice and matches should use the same equipment setup.

Based on walangkatapat's response it sounds like he will swap the mag release when playing in Production, so it is a moot point in this instance.
