Mike in CT
I am looking to shorten the LOP on my Benelli M2 so today when I took the butt pad off I saw what looks like a second set of snaps 1" in from the end of the stock. Looking at the outside of the stock there is a visible line where this second set of 'snaps' is. Could it be as easy as just cutting off 1" and popping the butt pad back in? I did some measurements and it looks like the second set of snaps has the same width, but maybe 1/4" shorter, maybe the butt pad can conform to that? Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Mike in CT
So I called Benelli, they say that it looks like it would work but it does not. bummer
GunCat
When you start cutting the back off the stock the insert will pull out easily. If just a thinner pad will get the LOP you want (without cutting the stock) then Brownells sells an adapter plate that goes inside the stock and let you install other brands of grind to fit pads. I have used this same plate in a cut off stock and secured it with a coupling & all thread rod to the stock bolt, then proceeded with a grind to fit pad. A good bit of work but you can get down to 13” or so LOP stock and still use a nice , thick recoil pad.
mike cyrwus
early m2 comfortech stocks are about 1/2-5/8" shorter than the ones they put on them now. One of those, plus a thin gelpad from the later models will get almost everybody an acceptable lop.
phidelt208
Mesa Tactical makes a stock thats shorter but I think its a pistol grip, they might make a standard configuration though.
