jhgtyre
My oldest daughter has put in a couple of years of hard work training in the 10m Air Rifle event and now it is starting to pay off. Last weekend she shot a score in the AZ State Jr. Olympics that qualifies her for an automatic invitation to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for the Nationals. I am so proud of her I could burst (which may or may not explain my bulging waistline). If I had her patience and determination I am sure I would be a better shooter. -ld
DougCarden
Man, that is awesome! Congrats to her and you for your time and love with her! My sister almost made it to the US team for Gymnastics(injury), and actually beat some of the women that won gold in 88', so I know the feeling. Merlin Orr
What an honor to be even considered to represent the United States of America! We are ALL proud of her - and of you for your support and guidance. (insert American Flag waving in the breeze!)
jhgtyre
I forgot to mention the tough part which is that the bullseye is only the size of a * and is completely invisible to my aging eyes at 10 feet much less 10 meters. Thanks for the encouraging words. -ld
Kimberkid
Congrats!!! Tell her to take lots of pictures of the place. A friend of mine is there everyday as he is a member of the Air Force Academy's triathalon team. I'm sure it will be a trip she will never forget. Best of luck. Tom Freeman
Many congrats. If she needs to be shown around Colorado Springs or just needs to borrow a car for a day, ect... have her get in touch with me. I used to shoot smallbore and air pistol out there a lot, but Uncle Sam has been cutting into my free time lately.

I used to shoot smallbore and air pistol out there a lot, but Uncle Sam has been cutting into my free time lately. Oh damn. I keep forgetting that she will be driving soon! Running around with loaded guns is one thing but driving I think I just felt another hair on my head turn gray. Thanks for the offer though! -ld
Bruce
That is one of those "things" in life that she will forever carry with her as an accomplishment...and the older she gets the more it will mean to her. Awesome work dad...and as a father you and I both know what I mean...kids do not get the drive, patience, and stick-to-it'ness by just plucking it out of the air...it comes from the example of others (you). DougC Your sis is a gymnist,,, I definetly don't remember you mentioning that!!! Maaaaaaaan gymnist girls are the coolest!!! The classic mix of femininity and agility. WOW... Next class you take this way I think she needs to be asked to accompany. My girlfriend could use a partner to laugh at the dumb shooter guys and I'm sure the budding gymnist in our friend Rhino would love to talk technique with a pro!!! Sorry to hi-jack the thread for a sec. Tremendous acomplishment for your daughter!!! And a time of bonding that many of us dream about... Congrats to the young lady and very very good luck!!!
