thermobollocks
What's the going rate for ADI powders in Australia?
zhuk
Approx $50-55/500g Not that we can find any, anymore lol All of Sydney seems to have been cleared out some time ago, and due to no transport company willing to stump up the onerous storage reqs, probably no chance of any of any kind flowing for the forseeable Edited April 20, 2014 by zhuk
thermobollocks
How is it twice as expensive there as here?
RDA
How is it twice as expensive there as here? Usually, the answer is typically transportation costs or taxes or both. I am guessing taxes in this case and if that isn't the case, supply/demand.
thermobollocks
Transportation, it would make more sense for ADI (the A is for Australia) to cost more in the US, not half as much. That's why I'm very confused. I have to imagine demand in the US is far greater than demand within Australia, unless there's some component of ADI's commercial ammo manufacturing that I don't know. Yep, I am aware, hence why I was guessing taxes rather than transportation.
Service Desk
The market in the USA is huge.... The market in Australia is tiny by comparison. Volume translates into better pricing.... Currency exchange rates also have a part to play.

nYdGeo
So does anybody have any load data on 147gr 9mm coated bullets? Im a little hesitant to try them for major. Se post #8 pf this thread. I've shot this load through his open-class STI and was stunned by how well they worked. Extremely soft shooting of course, but was suprised to find that the pistol stayed comfortably flat when shooting these rounds. Good luck! http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=191301#entry2116689

7mmb
The price of metals has been going up, particularly copper. The landslide in the Bingham Canyon copper mine has had it offline for over a year now. That isn't helping jacketed bullet prices I'm sure. Jeff F
It is a fact that supply and demand as well as raw material costs have driven up the cost of everything. It's not greed, just capitalism at its best. Do you want the government to regulate the prices and turn us into a socialist government ?

It's not greed, just capitalism at its best. Do you want the government to regulate the prices and turn us into a socialist government ? There is just so much wrong with that simplistic, short-sighted reply that it’s not worth the time to create a proper response, particularly when we all know it will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. Suffice it to say that there is, of course, nothing wrong with capitalism. It’s when humanity leaves it that it becomes wrong. This is not capitalism at its best. This is soulless, unethical, dishonest, greedy, despicable capitalism, and it’s at the center of what is destroying the country that I love. As much as these idiot liberals who want to give away the freedoms that we've fought for and the things that we work for, have damaged our country, our own U.S. big business has raped and destroyed it a thousand times more. All the information you need to know exactly what I'm talking about is readily available to anyone willing to seek it out. If you have no idea what you’re talking about and are not willing to put forth the effort to become educated as to the facts, your opinions are invalid as they are based on fiction. Stop believing that the garbage that you read in propaganda emails is the truth. Stop getting your 'news' and 'facts' from the Fox News entertainment program. Or, continue living happily under the current delusion. The choice is yours. Note that it is not unpatriotic to question information of any type from any source, and/or to question our leaders. In fact, it is our duty to ourselves and to our country as patriots to question everything. We also deserve honest answers from our leaders. Obviously, that is never going to happen. (The preceding is my opinion based on my observations and comprehension of information readily available to the public, and nothing more.)

Interesting, my comprehension of readily available public information leads me to believe that the attack on our freedoms and liberties, particularly from our politicians, is more egregious than wrongs that have resulted from capitalism or big businesses. Just my opinion.

Alaskapopo
We have rampant corporate greed and corporate welfare as well. Classical liberalism is not a bad thing it means you support individual rights. There is plenty of blame to go around for our problems today and it rest with folks on both sides of the political spectrum. Miranda
greed is a basic driver in human action. the label used to feed the need... merely illuminates the path the individual takes. To our Australian friends.... can you order the sulfuric and nitric acids and make your own powder? or is that frowned on ? miranda
gm iprod
You can order it and everything will probably be OK up to when you need to dispose of the acids. About then the local gubmint will throw a spazz.
