Sarge
I am tinkering with mag release options on my 2011 and was wondering about the offset type releases like the STI or the Snake skin from rescomp. Do they put stress on the mag release causing any binding? Do they do any harm or cause excessive wear on the release? Does the STI hold up well? It looks pretty sparse in design. Anybody have personal experience with either of these or a similar model that I didn't mention? Thanks
67camaro
Can't answer any of your questions relating to stress on it, but I have the rescomp and it is nice. My hands are kinda small for the 2011 platform so any help reaching the mag release is nice.
Sarge
Thanks for the info. I'll keep watching and see where this goes. I like the looks of the rescomp.
Iceman2733
I have been in this same dilemma lately. Has anyone had issues with any certain mag release hitting the grip?
Shadow
Sarge- I've used the STI on multiple guns since it first came out and have never had any problems with it
424D57
We've run several different buttons including the STI. Never had any binding or wear issues. Current personal favorite for myself and the wife and daughter is the EGW mini paddle. Good distance to get out towards your thumb, but slim enough to minimize any issues with weak hand grip. Last I looked they were a downright steal at ~$5 on EGW's site. The mini paddle does however need some fitting - on all our 2011s stock it would hit the grip before dropping the mag; juts needs a nice ramp sliding away from the grip and away from the mag catch. Maybe 10 minutes with a sanding drum for the first one, 3 minutes for every one I've done since. Friend has I think a Wilson that's checkered and looks nice, but I've never seen it for sale without the mag catch as well so I've never looked much further into it. -424D57
