gmantwo
Need another barrel and have been trying to get hold of Mike for a couple weeks. I know his website says working on backorders. Anyone actually spoken to him?

StraightUp_OG
Emailed him about a month ago on 2 barrels I ordered a year ago and no joy. Hope all is well...
Paul-the new guy
He is probably in Florida, doesn't he run the US Steel nationals?
Guest
Yep, go to T-ville this weekend and you will see him there at the US Steel Nationals.
praff
U could always order an svi barrel. They won't sell the aet version to you but if that doesn't make a difference to you it is the same barrel I have been told. I ordered one a couple weeks ago and they told me 6 week lead time. StraightUp_OG
It is not the same barrel. The SVI rib is a different cut but you are correct that they reserve the AET for in-house builds.
praff
Rib is different but are they the same barrel blank?
StraightUp_OG
The steel in both barrels is 416R and each company button rifles and machines their own so they are not machined from another companies blank.
praff
So if the material is the same, the rifling process is the same (they both use the proprietary term AET), is it essentially the same barrel other than who is doing the machining? Barrel lugs (upper and lower) the same dimensions and profile? Finishing specifications the same? Sorry for the detailed questions and not trying to de-rail the thread, just trying to understand. Is there some kind of partnership between the two companies since they both produce AET barrels?
StraightUp_OG
I am not sure of the AET origin. Nor do I know of any past relationship or collaboration. I do know that each makes their own complete barrels.
praff
sounds good.....thanks for the info
Dkrad1935
Total speculation but I think svi was buying them from schuemann. I'm guessing they licensed or bought a right to make aet barrels to control their supply chain and or quality.
donnyglock
Will helped SV get set up making barrels.
joedirt
Back to the original question. Where are they? why don't they answer emails? Are they behind or caught up?
DougCarden
They were doing maintenance on some big machines in March, as well as running the US steel nationals. Mike is back and making barrels. Leave a message and when his backlog is cleared up he will be able to get you set up. He has a large volume, just like all the other firearms related companies right now as well.....
