DoubleL
What can I say? It just feels so good to hold that sticky gritty fresh super traction grip tape! I've been working on my grip in dry fire, really picking precise spots to index my hand to on the gun. The left panel sits so much better with the complete grip tape treatment. It adds a whole new level of feeling to my support hand.
thermobollocks
Now I want to redo mine. I find the anti-slip stuff I use on my M&P will peel if I leave it in the safe, cold, for a couple of weeks, but only from the backstrap. Maybe I could flatten a backstrap... DoubleL
I've found that if I steal the wife's blow drier and slightly warm the area you are sticking to and warming up the tape pretty good before peeling off the sticker part really makes a huge difference in the stickiness. I've always wiped off with alcohol first too and the tape stays pretty good. Put a gentle stretch on the tape when it's nice and warm and it will conform and stick to shape very well Another good trick I use, you may find useful. After you've got all the tape on in place get a roll of cheap black electrical tape and back wrap the whole grip. I wrap tape around the trigger guard to start, flip the tape sticky side OUT and stretch a tight layer on, overlapping really heavy. When you get to the bottom of the grip just flip the tape sticky side IN and rewrap covering only the sticky from the first layer of tape. Let it sit a night or two like that and when you unwrap you get no sticky residue on the gun and super tight well formed grip tape Everybody loves a good grip!! Gussers
.What kind of tape are you guys using in the pics? I'm curious about trying this on my XD.
DoubleL
The glock17 has pre cut pieces from CPWSA. Vendor here, I can't remember the name of them but it's in the glock section on the site. My shadow above has homemade pieces I cut out by making paper templates and then tracing onto the back side of this stuff. Tape aisle at Lowes for about 9$. 2" wide I think 15 foot roll. They also had a 4" roll.
thermobollocks
I think I've got the same thing as that Lowes stuff, just branded differently since it's from Home Depot... 3M Safetywalk tape. It was like 20 bucks for a 4" by 20 foot roll or something ridiculous like that.
Gussers
Thanks for the info, folks. Looks like I'm off to Lowes. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
bigkyle72
I went to Zumiez and asked for some grip tape (for skateboards) and they sold me a big rectangle for $
basman
Big sheet from the local skateboard/bike shop, around 8 dollars. Alcohol for prep, and hair dryer are the way to go. I also velcro straps to keep the skateboard tape in place, the key is to, clean, heat, apply, then let it sit for a few days and not mess with it. JaeOne3345
I sand the strong side down with another piece of grip tape. If I don't, I can't get to the mag release!
