Tattoo
Hey all, I am looking for a good 9mm Major powder and I stumbled into some Pistol Power. Anyone ever use It for 9mm Major? T
noylj
Where did you find Power Pistol? What weight bullets? For Major, you accept going beyond SAAMI pressure specification? I have seen 6.6-8.3gn being used with 121-125gn jacketed bullets, but that was with folks who carefully worked up the loads in pistols made for 9mm Major. It has been done. Tattoo
I just stumbled across some and wondered if it could make major....seems the answer is not really T Edited February 10, 2014 by Tattoo
Baer45
The answer is it is suggested not to bother trying to run 9mm at Major speeds in stock gun, so I'm told. Powder Pistol is consistently the most accurate powder I have ever found for 9mm. The downside is flash and bang! Good luck..c[
Tattoo
Open STI's are made for 9mm major. It just seems like an unpopular powder for Open guns.... T

I did not catch that..I shoot Bullseye or for accuracy and was just surprises how accurate PP is in nine mill compared to all the others I've tried... Gunzmatter
I have actually used power pistol with the BlueBullets in 147 gr. (Weight of the bullet is actually 151gr.) I tested the loads using my STI DVC Steel. The more power the better on this gun. It does run minor and major, so it is good for steel challenge, and USPSA open division. I will post data since there is few using these components......use at your own risk! Loads are as follows: 151gr Blue LRN 5.9 gr power pistol cci 500 C.O.L. 1.160 mixed brass I tested with an 8 shot group. AVG VELOCITY 1117 F.P.S. 1100 P.F.= 168 1115 1106 1095 1141 1117 1135 1131 Next group same specs except 6.0 gr. power pistol. 1123 AVG VELOCITY 1136 F.P.S. 1128 P.F.=171 1123 1173 1134 1146 1128 1135 Last group I made 9.. 6.1 gr. power pistol 1204 AVG VELOCITY 1164 F.P.S. 1165 P.F.=175 1147 1178 1140 1175 1180 1124 1170 The last load at 6.1 gr. felt the smoothest. No primer flattening, case bulging or other pressure signs. Good luck.
