Ultimo-Hombre
So looking at a sti frame I picked up for a build and a question came up. When bare frames are shipped do they have any sort of finish applied by the factory? I am familiar with "in the white" steel. The frames however have a matte finish to them. Is this matte finish just the result of some acid bath final production step or is it an applied finish? Either way I understand the need for a proper finish application post fitting. It is just that when I compare the frame with a white steel component the steel surface is quite different. Even if its just trivia.... StraightUp_OG
It is just a bead blasted and "in the white". A finish will need to be applied. Edited February 6, 2014 by StraightUp_OG

troupe
Is the frame carbon or stainless ? You will be able to get away with more on a stainless frame.
