Religious Shooter
I did a search and a lot of the links on the posts are dead... videos deleted... etc. Can you guys give me a recommendation on a video showing a good technique on how to reload a revolver for competition? I'm a right hand shooter using HKS/Jet Loader or speed strips. There are a number of videos in youtube. I need help to point out the good ones. Thanks. WheelGunHunter
Well, I don't know squat about reloading a revolver with speed loaders. But here is a video of Josh Lentz doing a reload in real time and in slow motion. Seeing how Josh won Classic division at the IRC last year he would be your best bet in my opinion. MWP
For a while I tried the same reload Josh does here, weakhand speedloader. Within a week, I broke the yoke pin and it dug a grove into the yoke, twice, on two guns. Smith repaired both, but the new style spring loaded yoke pin wasn't holding up for me, I'm going to try to fit a solid pin, like the older models. Strong handed reloads with my speedloader guns helps to support the crane and keep from tearing it up, in my case.
Carmoney
Are those videos available from www.joshextraordinaire.com?
Glocktogo
Well I don't know if these are "good" or not, but I did strong hand reloads when I was running revolver back in the day. The trick is to not get too rigid on the loader hold, so it can correct for minor misalignment. This was old school, so sorry but no slo-mo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmhmReBCyq4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxYvFii5ybk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP0kkrOKEyo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnFlncSsltk

Religious Shooter
Are you guys keeping a finger on the cylinder to keep it open when you reload? I don't think that Josh guy has a finger on the cylinder while reloading.
Cd662
It depends on what kind of reload you're doing. There's a few speedloader methods. While I hate the IDPA Tactical Journal, Massad Ayoob did write a fair article discussing the differences. I'm pretty sure Josh isn't holding the cylinder open. I use a switch hand method because a legit guy in the area has that reload. I tried Josh's and it doesn't work. I tried a moonclip style reload which is fast but not consistent. Maybe I'll post a video of it for you, my average is about 2.5 seconds on a reload. Josh smokes me in terms of consistency.
Glocktogo
Doing weak hand reloads, there's nothing to stabilize the cylinder except gravity (there's also more stress placed on the yoke screw). The benefit is not having to move your hand off the grip. The drawback is you can't go for the speedloader until the ejection of the empties is complete. It's a tradeoff. With the strong hand reload, the tips of the weak hand middle and ring finger hold the cylinder fully open and index on a flute through the frame window. If you correctly index the speedloader in the holder and grab it with the index finger placed between the cartridges, you can get near perfect bullet tip alignment with the charge holes in the cylinder, requiring less rotation for them to drop. This increases speed and consistency. One thing to watch out for during the ejector stroke is to move the thumb up off the cylinder latch. That prevents it from inadvertently pushing a spent case under the extractor star. Edited February 7, 2014 by Glocktogo
ZackJones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WOrvVcv7EiI#t=324 One day I want to be able to reload like the king. Reloading is around the 5:20 mark
