UTraab
Which bullets? The profile is what matters. 147 Bayous run just fine through mine at 1.135". I don't know how far out I can go, but I know that they still drop free at 1.140". They will shoot high, so you might want to change your front sight. I have a .170 Dawson on mine. I changed my front sight to Dawson .195 for 147. I had .175 and it shoots high.
Nimitz
hmmm ... better lucky then good I guess as I recently had Mink put a Dawson .195 on my gun .... the bullets are Xtreme 147s
UTraab
I'm POA=POI with my .170 front but YMMV. The Bayous that I use are FP and it looks like the Xtremes are RN so you might have to load them pretty short.
gmg
Go with the 147 Bayous and they won't let you down. They shoot excellent and Mr. Donnie is a pleasure to work with.
smoothdraw
can you load 147 and shoots same poa/poi like your 124's?
blueorb
Like was already said I shoot 147 Bayou's with no problem out of my stock barrel. You will most likely shoot high though...I was about 6 inches high at 20 yrds.
razorfish
I've kicked around the idea of trying 147's... What powders are you all using? I currently use WST and/or HP-38 (W231) for practice ammo (124 grain bullets). Would I need something slower for 147's?
UTraab
I use 3.3 gr. of N320 for 132ish PF.
TerryT
My chamber was pretty short. With 147g Montana Gold CMJ's, the bullets touched the lands at 1.115". I would check yours with the bullets you plan on using.
tomfturner
I'm using a Bayou 147 with WSF 3.8gr (I think). Shoots pretty good and makes 130 pf or so.

Mespo
For what it is worth, I shoot Atlanta Arms 147 and replaced my front site with a Dawson .170. Everything works great....
GrumpyOne
I shoot PD 147's ...they will shoot high...3.8 of n320 @1.150...136pf at 40 degrees.
SpankYa
Same experience here with 147gr from my Shadow. Had to get a taller front sight from CZCustom. Why does a slower, heavier bullet shoot higher?
UTraab
Same experience here with 147gr from my Shadow. Had to get a taller front sight from CZCustom. Why does a slower, heavier bullet shoot higher? Because it stays in the barrel longer so the barrel is pointing higher when the bullet exits. Smitty79
I shoot 147 Berrys that I bought from Automatic Accuracy. They are loaded about 1.135. I just got my press yesterday and will be loading to 1.15. Every 9mm I own, including my CZ85, push tested over 1.195.
ntphd
My Shadow was POA=POI with wwb. When I started shooting my reloads (147 Montana Golds [with VV N320]), they didn't shoot high or low (which is what folks told me would happen). In my case, they consistently shot 2 inches to the left. I ran a thread and mostly got back a bunch of question marks. Finally, someone mentioned that the ogive (sp?) of the 147 is so different from the 115 that this sort of result is possible. I guess I was very fortunate; it's a lot easier to loosen the rear sight and move it than it is to change out the front sight. With that minor adjustment, I'm back to POA = POI. Nimitz
Hmmmm ... When I do the calculation for shooting 2" high at 24 yds I get that the front sight needs to be .015" higher. I'm assuming this would be a similar calc for left /right. So, exactly how did you "move your sight a little" to achieve this precision? I assume you didn't mean you had an adjustable rear? chuck s
Wouldn't you just tap it a bit to the right?
Nimitz
seems like an awful painful way to precisely line up your sights ... if you like adjusting your sights yourself why not have an adjustable rear sight so you can precisely dial in your POI/POA? For me, I can't afford to have things come out of alignment during/after/before competitions so I want to get my gun sighted in for my current load & forget about it ... I have enough other things to concern myself with other than wondering if my alignment was done correctly or if it has come loose ...
eerw
Adjustable sights can and do break from time to time. Fixed sights once you take the time to dial them in can be rock solid.
