pmd
Looking into new Shot Timers for our Club's Steel Challenge program. We have been getting a lot of Rimfire rifles shooters. Some timers will not pick up certain rifles 100% of the time. I have had good results with my own Pact Club III timer and may go that route. Any thoughts or experience on timers that work well with Rimfire rifles? Thanks! Paul
ZackJones
We use the Competition Electronics Pocket Pro timers and they pick up the shots. The RO's usually put the timer as close to the rifle as they can though to make sure but we didn't miss a single shot on our squad at our last match and we had 3 guys shooting rimfire rifles during the match. ivwarrior
I try and keep my arm fully extended, with the timer facing toward the rifle's muzzle. Standing behind the shooter, your hand is still safely uprange of the muzzle, but it seems to get close enough the timer picks up the shots. We've had issues before, especially if you don't keep the timer facing the rifle.
Tom E
I try and keep my arm fully extended, with the timer facing toward the rifle's muzzle. RO'ing, I hold the timer out as far as I can and low, mic towards the muzzle. Low, trying to keep the timer from bothering the shooter. My 15-22 has a muzzle brake just to help the timer hear it.
