Prebaned
Hi all, I just join the crowd of chronographs. I went with the beta master because I can't see that far or I would've went with this CE Chrono pro which doesn't seem to share any of the issues of the shooting Chrony. I'm going to be shooting this mostly inside and I need to make a light kit that has a self-contained power supply. I just bought some LED puck lights from Harbor freight there blue 27 LED lights with three AAA batteries included. I haven't tried them yet but was looking for any thoughts on how to set them up. I've read different people do different things with different puck lights. Should these go on top of the diffusers or underneath the diffusers? Also I do not know if they are direct drive but they have one settings so that leads me to believe these lights should work. Has anyone had any luck with these lights? mjohn
That does appear to reduce the useful shooting area by a large margin without damaging any equipment.
Prebaned
Okay, turns out I have just bought a LED light kit for six US dollars that works 100% 98% of the time. The harbor freight LED lights work either on top of the sky shields or under the sky shields. With the Chrono in my basement I have CFL lights 5 feet away and the crony doesn't seem to mind. The key for me to get 100% reliability 100% of the time is to stay in the magic trapezoid. What works for me is between the rods in their furthest setting and 4 inches above the eye to 6 inches above the eye. If I leave that area I'll get an error some of the time but always guaranteed to get 100% reading if I stay in that trapezoid. Hope this helps someone out.
