Mikethor
As the title mentions Im assuming I need to increase the bell slightly from loading lead to plated ? With lead I used to get the odd shaving however with plated I've had to slow right down as there is obviously not enough bell and the bullet teeters in the case mouth which invariably leads to plating being deformed and bullets having to be pulled. How much bell is ideal when using these projectiles ? thanks in advance.
dsa
http://www.doublealpha.biz/bulletfeeder/powder-funnel Try switching to this powder funnel, it creates a pocket and the bullet sits more upright and doesn't teeter.
dillon
Adjust the powder die so that a sized, flared case mouth is at least .010" larger than the case mouth on a sized, unflared case. .020" would be the most I would flare a case personally. Dirty Rod
I've never measured.I just increase the flare until the bullet sits upright by itself before seating. A little more if it's shaving the plating or crushing the case upon seating.
Mikethor
Thanks for the replies, had a play last night and adjusted it so projectile just sits comfortably with out teetering, should speed the reloading up somewhat now too.
