Tanfoglio Stock II spare parts for one's range bag

Ladies and gentlemen,

I recently purchased a Stock II and I wanted to know what spare parts you keep on hand? I shoot Production in USPSA and with my G34 I have a small tacklebox full of spare parts just in case. I want to do the same for my Stock II so what would you suggest would be the most important spares to have on hand. Thanks in advance.

My backup gun gives me a warm and fuzzy. Some things you cant really fix at the range or on the road in a decent time frame.

Sights can be difficult in a time pinch. Things crack and break.

I've had issues with recoil springs, magwell, etc that I have been able to deal with at the safety table in between matches. At a larger match Id probably just rather grab my backup gun and deal with the failure at the end of the day.

well arent you the rich guys with whole complete other guns as back ups! LOL to us less fortunate, i carry extra sear, spring and cage, extra hammer springs in different weights, pins, guide rod, recoil springs, firing pins, extractor and spring, some screw drivers, allens, and its worked so far havent had to fix much of anything it just runs and runs and runs..( and i have the cheapo version witness )

my kit for a match would be:

spare slide stop. (though you can sometimes carry on with a broken one, it's a good thing to have).

spare fibre rod for the front sight

squib rod

hammer

cleaning kit (brushes, jags, oil, rod, patches etc)

couple of punches and screw drivers and torx driver for my grip screws

couple of spare recoil springs and hammer springs

extractor and extractor spring and pin is not a bad idea too

spare firing pin and spring is a good spare to have too

spare recoil spring (can do something like buy an extreme one, or henning cone fit and then keep the stock one as a spare).

that should do it. :)

Here is the recomended spare parts list from Jim Jones at J&L Gunsmithing:

Green Front Sight Fiber

1 - Set of Xtreme Grip Screws

6 - Wolff 13lb Hammer Springs

2 - Hammer Pin Retaining Pin

5 - Factory Extractor Springs

2 - Extractor

2 - Extractor Pin

5 - Sear Springs

2 - Slide Stop

Firing Pins (1 - X-long, 2 EG Xtreme)

5 - Uncut Factory Firing Pin Springs

1 - Firing Pin Retainer/Back Plate

3 - Firing Pin Safety Plunger Spring (spring under firing pin block)

It's probably a little excessive, but if your spending hundreds of dollars on match fee's, hotel's, ammo, ect it would suck to go all that way and spend all that money to have to sit out because of a $5 spring.

The down and dirty bare minium list probably looks like this:

4- Front Sight Fibers

2 - Wolff 13lb Hammer Springs

1 - Factory Extractor Springs

1 - Extractor

1- Extractor Pin

1- Slide Stop

5 - Uncut Factory Firing Pin Springs

Jim has all of this in stock, tell him Zach Savage sent you!

Wait....You actually shoot matches Nealio?

I only carry the one blaster at local matches. Im pro parts for a different reason. Even though I have an extra blaster for big matches, I hate to wait on shipping or parts shortage for a replacement part once I got the gun home.

I like them for that reason too. If your questioning if something is broken or worn it's also nice to have an extra new one laying around to compare the one in the gun to or just throw the new in the gun to verify.

Also, I carry a back up gun to majors but my back up is a g34. So maybe I finish the day with my back-up, but if I can get my main gun up and running for the second or 3rd day I'm certainly going to try that.

I use to have another Tang in 45 that I considered a backup gun but then that meant additional mags and ammo to drag along. I wanted to make sure my backup used the same just for that reason.

ok, after reading that list I have realised my list was way too long. I don't need to carry anything to the range. I can just shoot in the same squad with this guy and bludge what I need off him!!! :)

It's a thought, but I don't have ANY of this stuff. It's just what was recomended to me to keep on hand. I'll probably end up ordering the short list at some point in the near future, but right now I can barely afford match fee's and ammo!
