tiger49931
I have a problem with this set up. im switching from the stock barrel and heard how amazing kkm barrels are so i figured i wanted to goto 147gr slow bullet to improve my gaming. well let me tell ya what . From 3.2 gr wst 3.4 gr 3.6 gr Groups were horrible at 10 yards from a rest. anyone have the range for wst and bear creek
tiger49931
forgot my C.O.A.L is 1.10 Edited January 22, 2014 by tiger49931
Boxerglocker
I've run those BC 147 FP up to 3.6s with WST at 1.10 using a Lone Wolf Barrel.... I'm a firm believer in the running 147 at a minimum 940 fps (135PF) for accuracy reasons.
Therealkoop
My M&P with the 5" KKM BBL shoots real good groups at 1.15 or 1.155. It shoots pretty bad at 1.10. 3.8g WSF however. NOT wst. Also 147g, but an xtreme plated.
AHI
What twist is that KKM ? 1in32? 1in16?
Therealkoop
24 i think
AHI
Ok 1in32 will not stabilize 147 . Not sure about the 24 but I believe that is your problem. ie your bullets are to long / heavy four your twist.
tiger49931
ill have to look into that i was kinda thinking that but moved my C.O.L. to 1.145 and the 3.2 130 pf worked pretty well where the 136 pf was alright also but im still workin on it
tiger49931
kkm barrel is 1in20 so 147 might not work for that twist ... Guy at kkm said lead bullets and 147 with that twist wont work . the barrels are designed for jacketed or plated bullets. He said i might try plated 147 at sonic speeds i was like NO thank you.. Therealkoop
As a comparison my 5" KKM bbl with the 147g extreme plated will shoot repeatable 1" groups at 15 yards. I mean its not the best and I dont know what you are looking for, but its all I need. Ive never imagined the slow twist would be an issue.
AHI
I have seen 147s hit side ways out of 32 twist. With that said may I suggest a 130/135 grain bullet. Other wise bump the load up in velosity. Not my idea of fun. 10 and 16 twist shoot heavy bullets best. 32 is for 115 to125 at there best. No experience with 20 or 24 twist yet. Gun Phan
I run the KKM barrel in my MPs. Not so great success with moly/Bayou 147s. Montana gold 147, 1 on top another on 1" paster at 15 yds. Tony
