earthshine402
I'm looking to give some .40 cal 10 round mags some breathing room - with the mag being so tight.. i can't reliably seat them with a full mag.. Anyone have these TTI small basepads and have a pair of calipers to measure this dimension: Here is what I want someone to measure: and here is a Dawson basepad I measured:
dskinsler83
I'm really not sure why you are wanting them measured. The fit the box both IDPA and USPSA and weigh .85oz But to answer the question at hand they measure .685" Edited January 20, 2014 by dskinsler83
earthshine402
I'm really not sure why you are wanting them measured. The fit the box both IDPA and USPSA and weigh .85oz But to answer the question at hand they measure .685" So "they fit the box" is sort of a relative term... It depends on your sights, and if you are using a G34/35 or G17/22. With my current base pads with Warren/Sevigny sights and a Dawson Ice magwell, I just about had to get a rubber mallet to bang my gun into an IDPA box at New England Regionals last year. The peanut gallery got a huge kick out of it. So.. if that dimension I notated is any larger than my current base pad which measures 0.315, then the TTI base pads don't "fit the box". Are you sure you measured the area I did - from the rear, top to bottom, not the over-all height of it?
dskinsler83
I have a box and used in the past the Sevingny sights and now the TTI sights and said base pads and my G34 35 and 17 fit inside it I measured the same area as your picture as well
dskinsler83
Yes you have to line it up and lay it in just right but the rule book on either side of the fence says it can not be a snug fit it just says it has to FIT.
earthshine402
My tight fit was with a G34, Warren/Sevigny sights, Dawson Magwell, and their +0.2" base plates. If you are telling me that the TTI's are 0.3" longer than my set up, I am a little suspicious of it fitting an IDPA box. Did you have a magwell on? Was it the USPSA box instead of the IDPA box? The USPSA box is a little bigger. Thanks for taking the time to measure your base pads and respond on here BTW, I appreciate it.
dskinsler83
I believe there may be an 1/8" difference possibly in the length. Per Taran himself they fit both boxes
