GunBandit
I know it's still 8 months off but I was thinking about shooting in the Indiana USPSA championship. I wanted to get some opinions since i am a newb and didn't want to bite off more than I can chew. Or maybe I am overthinking it and should just do it. Any thoughts/advice??? sigsauerfan
approach it like a ton of fun ; did you ever backed off on a roller coaster ride lol?? shoot as many matches as possible,it's the best way to learn. you're NB,best way to learn is Learning to feel relax, but focused ; then you may extract the most of your runs . the fun factor is a good motivator to learn. so the more you shoot ,the faster the Learning curve. Pat Miles
While you are at the match focus on the better shooters. Watch what they do, foot movement, gun movement, their techniques. Doing so is where you will pick up on said techniques and movements. Use the match as a classroom experience and learn. Pat

gransport
I will also say to shoot it. I did Ohio last year as a newbie and had a lot of fun finishing mid pack. Other than Monday night practice matches, it was my 2nd official match. I just did an all classifier match that made me a "C", then jumped in. No.343
You can think of it as a great learning experience. Pick a few skills to improve on between now and then. Make the match your final exam. OR Take my approach and think of it as a weekend out with the guys without adult supervision.

zhuk
I know someone whose first proper match was the Worlds in Ecuador in 2005 lol If you can move while keeping a safe direction, why not? Do it! Edited April 3, 2014 by zhuk

CB45
Definitely come shoot the Indiana match. 18 stages!!! Also, check out the local clubs on Indiana for monthly matches leading up to the section match. There's a lot of time to get tuned up for this match. GunBandit
I am definitely leaning towards shooting it. I have been to the first two matches at South Central and freakin love it. Thinking about going to Silver Creek for a few club matches too. I've been practicing some and plan on doing more. Dry and live fire.
Freeborn Man
If you like South Central you will like Silver Creek as well. Both matches are well run. Shoot the state match, you won't regret it.
captain037
Shoot it. So much of improving is shooting through the nerves and inexperience of being new. We all were at one time.
