Which Gun for IDPA

Here is my story. Maybe you can give me some sage advice. I have been shooting USPSA in my home city. I intend to continue shooting USPSA. To that end I have a nice Springfield RO 1911 set up for Limited 10 or single stack (custom trigger, sights, etc), and a Glock 35 intended for Limited. This year my job is going to require I spend about 1/2 of my time in another city. Some friends in that town shoot IDPA and have asked me to participate with them while I am "visiting" (1/2 time in another town doesn't sound much like visiting to me.) Which gun should I use in the second city--the 1911 or the Glock 35? I can go either way, but right now I am leaning on taking my 1911 to the second city and storing it in my friend's safe.

1911 is the better choice sine it fits nicely into CDP. The 35 would be ok for ESP as long as it isn't to "limited" but then you have to either shoot major or always take minor .40 with you since you aren't going to pick that up at the local walmart.

Assuming the L10/SS 1911 is a 45 ACP, I'd shoot the G35 in ESP with minor loads. My crew is comprised entirely of pesky gamers trying to place highest overall (blasphemy!), which is easier to do running 10+1 minor loads in ESP/SSP than 8+1 major loads in CDP.

But if they place only slightly ahead of someone shooting a manly metal 45, wouldn't they feel justifiably inadequate?

I was thinking the 1911 was the best choice as well. I can still shoot my Glock in USPSA Limited and the 1911 in CDP. The number of reloads in IDPA per string is significantly less than in USPSA and I can use the cheapest Walmart 45 ammo. I won't have to worry about moving downloaded 40 S&W to the second city.

If I had a 9mm I would use that but I don't and I don't feel any need to buy one just now.

I shoot a G35 with bunny fart reloads for ESP so I don't have to take the magwell off my gun.

Great idea, but I want to shoot manly loads out of my G35 in USPSA limited. The reason I bought the G35 was to compete on an even playing field with the guys at my club who only have to reload once or twice in a 28-32 shot stage.

Springfield for IDPA & Glock for USPSA.

You get the most favorable caliber for USPSA scoring rules, burn the cheapest ammo at the game with the highest round count, actually get to fully load your magazines in both sports, and have the most accurate gun employed in the sport that places the most emphasis on accuracy.

But I'd really much much (much much much) rather just buy a second range officer (or glock  ) so you are not constantly trying to reprogram yourself on grip & thumb safety & etc etc. You will be better and safer in both sports.
